Reports in Spain that he will sign for us for £10m...

Let's hope so, what paper was this in? For some reason it seems to me the Spanish press would less likely to just make stuff up about clubs other than Real/Barca's transfers.

The story actually came from Italy in the first place, so take with a pinch of salt. And its €10m

Man City set to land cut-price Atletico Madrid ace

Manchester City are closing in on Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin, according to reports in Spain.

The cash-strapped Spanish club are desperate to raise funds and the fee received from Godin's departure would ease the pressure.

City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to bolster his defence before the transfer window shuts and Godin fits the bill.

The 26-year-old Uruguay international is a key member of the Atletico rearguard and widely regarded as one of the best central defenders in La Liga.

And it has been suggested that Premier League champions City could get Godin for a knockdown price of £8million - and are close to finalising the deal.

Sky says no approach has been made.

Come to think of it; has any bid from our side for any player been made official? It seems to be a lot of rumours and suggestions, but nothing, absolutely NOTHING to suggest we have actually been in a bidding war with any club. Not even for Sinclair have there been an official confirmation we have lodged a bid at one point.
Nothing was heard before Jack R signed either.

I think we are running an extremely tight ship this time around.

isn't this from Saturday, old news n all that?

Story published today on Talksport <a class="postlink" href="http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/120822/man-city-set-land-cut-price-atletico-madrid-ace-179233" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/ ... ace-179233</a>

Will be very happy with Godin.

Great backup CB and will allow Boyata and Savic to go out and try and prove themselves.

No disrespect to him but I can't see him being a big enough move for Mancini to really commit to 3-5-2 but a great option to have regardless.

so his club are having a press conference for him tonight?!

Never seen him, how good is this guy? what is his qualities? pace? strong? technical good?

This linkhttp://www.whoscored.com/Players/26059/, could give you a rough gude on his strengths and weaknesses. In my view he is worth a gamble.

We're trying to get a clever passing defender, in the mould of Kompany, who doesn't have the odd lapse of concentration as Lescott can and will stop us giving away cheap free kicks like we can be prone to do.

So, going purely by that link: weaknesses - passing, concentration. Also commits a lot of fouls.

Sounds perfect.

What is happening with this lad, think he would be great cover but everything has when quiet!

Linked with God in and Jesus. What team could beat us we only need a player called Holly Ghost and we have the blessed trinity.

No news City have made an offical bid and I think it is more speculation.<br /><br />-- Sun Aug 26, 2012 3:40 pm --<br /><br />
