Dinamo Zagreb (H) post match thread

The competition's clearly important to the Sheik and Khaldoon Mubarak. It's clearly important to the manager, it's clearly important to the players. I don't care an awful lot about it, I think the anthem is pompous and stupid, and like a lot of blues, I'd take the PL every time, if there had to be a straight choice. But that's a false problem. There doesn't have to be a straight choice. We're in the enviable position of having a good enough squad to go for both. As to whether we're famous or not in Thailand by virtue of winning it, I couldn't give a rusty fuck.
I respect what the owners, manager and players would like. I respect what our beloved captain said in parting to his teammates. I hope we win it.

Just seen BT extended highlights and we should have had three penalties which even BT agreed with. Handball in first half, Gundogan cleaned out in an aerial challenge and foul on Aguero. How VAR could see any clear and obvious errors and suggested that the ref view the monitor is beyond me. Last year UEFA were quick to justify why the penalty against Otamendi was given against Schalke so why no comment today? Bent as anything.

I would add Siva being hauled down in the box to those three as well mate.

Not on the highlights although on the night I thought it was a blatant pen. If anyone has a clip of it...

I know we haven't collectively bought into the Champions League, and I feel that last night was a classic example why not. Poor/bent officiating, different styles of football (which are more tedious to watch than most Premier League clubs) etc...

But it's clearly the most important competition to be part of. Last nights win meant we netted around £2.4m. To put that in context we earned more than our prize money for winning the League cup or the FA cup. I know you don't get a trophy for each win, but let's put it in perspective, there's a lot riding on these games.

Useful post that

Did you notice they were prepared to have a go from outside the box, our preferred method is to try and walk it in with the maximum number of passes possible.

Didn’t Rodri have the odd shot from distance?

What are the feelings of blues on here? Dippers to drop out of the farce that’s the UCL to for them to remain?

Comical officiating and VAR ‘blindness’.
We are battling it all again this season and it’s clear as day that we will never be allowed to progress in CL.
We should just sack it off and destroy everyone in all domestic competitions. Watching it proved just how the CL and UEFA only want their ‘darlings’ progressing.
Last season was the final straw for me, robbed by 2 decisions that VAR ‘decided to see’.
