Diogo Jota & his brother Andre have died in a car crash

Incredibly sad for all his family and friends. The parents must be devastated beyond words to lose both sons. By all accounts he was a great human being off the field. RIP DJ.
Yes, I was thinking about his parents who have lost both sons, not to mention his lovely wife and 3 young children …. life can be so cruel sometimes.

I’m sure Reuben, Matheus & Bernardo are distraught too. RIP

Truly.

It's just a fucking game when all is said and done.

Fast cars and Helicopters come with wealth but so so dangerous statistically
Indeed. I suspect that Michail Antonio in particular has reflected today on how incredibly lucky he was. As an FOC I can sit and despair at young lads killing themselves in fast cars, but it has always happened and always will. Absolutely tragic.

It really is. Three lads from my son’s school all died in a crash a few weeks ago, all in their very early twenties, just horrendous.

The only good that can come from it is the hope it makes just some others realise just how dangerous cars are and it really doesn’t matter if you get to your destination two minutes quicker.

I’m not sure if it was speed or not in this, sounds like the tyre burst. RIP to both of them and god bless their parents and families.

Very sad loss.

I learnt a long time ago that if ever you have a blow out DO NOT touch the brakes as that can often cause the wheel with the puncture to lock up and dig in resulting in the car losing control and spinning or even flipping over as apparently happened here, instead just allow the car to roll to a stop.

To think that he probably would've been feeling right on top of the world.

Won the League. Won the Nations League. Just got married. Heading back to preseason training in the prime of his life.

All taken away, in an instant. Life can be awfully cruel.

Hundreds of people are killed in road accidents in Europe every year. We don’t really think about it too much except where it is a family member, a friend, or, as in this case, a well known person.
All football fans will be saddened today at the loss of these brothers and their families will be devastated.
We all send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the families of the brothers. Stay safe, friends.
RIP Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.

Echoing everyone here.

So terribly sad. Awful for his young family.

Thinking of his Portuguese friends Bernardo and Ruben too.

I’m not generally one who gets emotionally moved by famous people dying, but this one feels very different. Really shocked me when I saw the news, an awful tragedy for two lads of such a young age.

He was always one of those players that I dreaded coming on the pitch from the subs bench - and I mean that in the nicest possible sense. City haven’t come up against many opponents in recent times where you see their name on the team sheet and think “he’s going to cause us problems” but Diogo Jota was definitely one of them.
Same here mate. Once I saw the picture of him with his new wife stood with the 3 little ones, I'm not ashamed to say it brought tears to my eyes. Gut wrenching. RIP guys.
