Diogo Jota & his brother Andre have died in a car crash

It's as tough as it gets. I lost my only daughter to meningitis many years ago now (1987), but it might as well have been yesterday. She was only 7, felt unwell, went into hospital just as a precaution so we thought and she'd gone within 16 hours. Even though they were adults I can't imagine what it must be like to lose two of your own at once. One is , ah shit sorry, I dont know what to say. sorry.

Doesn't get any worse than that, must be a battle every day.

I admire your courage mate.

I’d say close this thread. If you’re getting to
a point where multi posts are being deleted, close it. It’s clear there are wankers dying to get their big blue chests puffed out and make this about Liverpool FC, when that club has done nothing other than make sure the kids’ family is going to be looked after.
This is not, not, a football thing and nothing should be posted on some kind of dig at Liverpool. Any press and coverage the kid has had on his funeral with his brother is what it is, because it’s so heartbreaking after his recent wedding.

Peace and courage to you and yours Coolcity. Every day.

I thought it was standard practice for clubs to insure their players for career ending injury and I would assume death.

No, I am sorry for reminding you (not that you would need reminding but I hope you understand my meaning). It is a very difficult subject and I apologise. You are very brave and may she rest in peace and may you get some solace from thoughts and prayers. xx

Same in Ireland I think. I went to a few funerals over there recently and they were within a few days of the person passing away

Yeah they like to get you in the ground pretty quick; my Dad died there on holiday and as we have an Irish surname they were very keen to sort him out quickly in 'the old country'. Took more than one conversation to explain he would be repatriated to Manchester.

There's no specific rules about speed in Catholicism, it's pretty much dependent on the culture of the individual place. In the UK it can even take a bit longer than normal if for instance you are looking to coordinate slots for both a requiem mass and a subsequent cremation.

Having worked previously in the insurance claims industry its a sad fact that his family would have got a lot more for a career ending injury than for a death

I was a big fan of Jota. Seemed to always pop up with important goals for Liverpool, annoyingly.

I'm not sure what happened, I haven't read too much into it. Big loss either way.

Zamora civil guard say all the evidence suggests it was Diogo Jota who was driving the car and was significantly exceeding the speed limit.
They also say there was nothing wrong with that section of the motorway. Incorrect reports are saying the surface of the motorway was uneven and hazardous.

High probability they were speeding according to spanish police. if that turns out to be true, all sympathy towards them is immediately rescinded from me. Have zero time for anybody that speeds, drives under the influence of drugs or alcohol or anything that puts other people in danger with their actions.

Tbf I just assumed whoever was driving was speeding, from what was left of the car after I’d have been shocked if it was only going 70mph when it happened.

I realise those types of cars aren’t designed with safety in mind though..

Any journalists who put their name to that better prepare themselves for the usual hate mail, regardless of how factual it is.

No Shit Sherlock ? If he were driving sensibly, he would have got away with it (blow out)
But you don't buy a Lamborghini Huracan to get you from A to B without doing a pedal to the floor

So sad and they leave behind kids a wife and family

R.I.P
