Dipper Takeover? [Merged]

I know zero about finance so this is probably a stupid question.

If this Kenny bloke has gone behind the owners back, would H&G benefit in any way by making a quick £40m on Torres before the takeover went through?

Depends what they want. If they want to get any money, then probably not.

They wouldn't get their hands on that £40m though. The bank would want it and it's not the sort of thing you could keep quiet exactly although there is a Brian Rix type comic potential to Stadler & Waldorf trying to convince their bank manager they've still got Torres.

But one thing we've all forgotten is that they have no CL income this season and if they haven't been sold to someone with money or don't look like getting back in the top 4 by the end of October then they're probably screwed as RBS then have to make a decision on the loan.

What makes me laugh about Liverpool fans, and I mean full belly laugh here, not your standard snigger or chuckle, is the level of delusion they manage to maintain despite all the facts pointing in other directions. Take for example this gem from RAWK

Totally agreed, as well as our historic dominance of the league and Europe we have also had significant recent success including our fifth European Cup. We are one of Football's unique brands with a heritage and world wide support!

Most of all in my opinion we are just a few players short of challenging (Striker, LB, Winger).

Now, I have no real issue with the first paragraph, I'd perhaps question his understanding of the term unique, I'd suggest United and Real Madrid would be extremely similar to them, but that's nit-picking really.

However that then brings me on to his last sentence. Liverpool are, basically, an entire team away from contending. Ok, Gerrard, Reina and Torres would be in a contenders side, you could argue Mascherano too, although you could also argue he should be discounted as he needs replacing due to his desire to leave. Maybe include Joe Cole. But that's still, at best 6 or 7 players short without considering cover for injuries etc. Liverpool finished 7th last season, 7th. Would three players propel them above those 6 sides? Of course not.

Would piss on a 1/2 million dippers chips though. Comedy value would be immense. The biggest Fuck You in football :)

He'd be fucking himself as well but it would be kind of funny, in a sick way.

Are they fuck. This is the team that beat the rags less than a year and a half ago:

Jose Manuel Reina,
Sami Hyypia,
Fabio Aurelio,
Martin Skrtel,
Jamie Carragher,
Albert Riera (Andrea Dossena, 67),
Steven Gerrard (Nabil El Zhar, 90),
Lucas Leiva,
Javier Mascherano,
Dirk Kuyt,
Fernando Torres (Ryan Babel, 81)

Xabi Alonso was missing in this game and has gone now but apart form that it's plain to see that the squad hasn't changed a great deal and the backbone of their team, bar Alonso, is still there.

This team finished in 2nd place, 4 points behind the rags and 3 ahead of Chelsea, therefore they were very much contenders that season.

The severe under-estimation of Liverpool's team by bluemooners continues...
