Discussion: Manuel Pellegrini 2015/16

he's trying to find the right balance, with plenty of injuries I doubt he's had a lot of time to work on the training ground with everyone together.

Hopefully he finds the right balance and we really kick on, needs to do a lot of work in the next 2 weeks, but hopefully this blip is character building and the rampant 2nd half can really spur us on all season and we march on.

Whilst it hasn't worked from the start in the past 2 games, he has changed it and the changes have completely changed the game. So from that regard I'm happy, it's something many were always very critical of Pellegrini for not doing, but if he can have everyone fit and find the ideal setup that will strengthen us defensively, and allow us to be rampant and run off with the league and qualify well in the CL, oh and progress in the League Cup haha.

He is creating a monster. Very under the radar manager just because he doesn't have the personality of Mourinho.

He's useless, imo.

Wrong tactics today with a right team selection. That first half we should/could have been 3-1 down.

David Silva is one of our best players but he always plays out right or left. When he plays him in the old fashioned number 10 role he's devastating.

Why can't the manager see this?

He didn't play him out right or left? He was in the middle but de bruyne and silva especially swap between each other which is devastating for tbe other team

I think Pellers has a hard job considering we bought Sterling and De Bruyne. Most people would want Sterling on the left and De Bruyne either on the right or in the middle. The problem is that neither are great in possession and we constantly lost the ball in the middle of the park in the first half. As woeful as Navas is at crossing and in goal he at least stretches the field and is decent in possession. It gave us much greater balance even by just him being on the field in the second half. It opens up space for Silva in the middle and also gives us an outlet when teams press us.

It's like since the takeover there's been an unofficial competition amongst the bluemoon side of our fan base to see who can hate the current manager the most.

We had it with the last guy, and we have it now with MP.

HAVE A LOOK AT YOURSELVES.

Complaining about a manager who has won cups and trophies doesn't make you sound nuanced and erudite. It makes you sound like a Johnny-come-lately twat.

Complaining about a manager (either of them) who puts together a side of players we used to be only able to dream about playing for us, and then gets them playing attacking, free scoring football (they both have) doesn't make you look intelligent and discerning, it makes you look like a ****.

IN the last 5 seasons , under both our managers we have:-

- won the fa cup. First trophy in 35 years.
- qualified for the European cup proper, for the first time ever. And done so every season since.
- won the title. Not once but twice.
- finished 3rd (on. GD), 1st,2nd, 1st,2nd. Ie: we have been indisputably the best side in England over the last 5 years.
- scored more goals than soft mick.
- conceded fewer goals than every other team over the last 5 seasons.

In the last few days we have beaten, deservedly, a German side in their own ground, in the worlds premier club competition. Coming from behind to do so. And being the first English side to ever win there. Then we have utterly destroyed a side 6-1 playing, frankly, the best 45 minutes of football I have ever seen from a city side. And still we have posters complaining. It's fucking madness.

Thank god bluemoon posters are not representative of our wider fan base because frankly, we don't deserve city. Don't deserve MP. DidNt deserve Mancini.

Today's match thread sums it up for me. Over ten times the length of the post match thread, and full of piss and vinegar.

This club and the people employed by it deserve so much better than a sizeable minority on here give them. It's disgusting.

First half? Surely your not saying we were the better side and Newcastle didn't deserve at least a 2 goal lead?

Second half Silva was in the middle, De Bruyner was out left and Navas out right, I do have bad geggs though.

Great win, an important win, and hopefully the International break will get Vinnie somewhere near to a return to the first team.

Only my opinion, nothing more nothing less.

And I thought it was about a Man City football forum and fans expressing their opinions good and bad about the team we all love, just like you would have done in all ages gone by up and to the dawn of the internet, most likely with everyone meeting up in the pub after the game.

Great win, shit first 45 minutes though thats just in my opinion!!

What does "deserve" mean, I will tell you it's meaningless they had a few chances so what?

No we weren't the better side, but by half time being level was about right, we had several very good chances we didn't take, a couple early on, and several in the last 10 minutes, so no they "didn't deserve at least a 2 goal lead". Newcastle played very well for 30 minutes, but didn't take their chances, and if we'd both taken our chances, it might have been 3-3 at ht (the great save by Hart was offside (though not given)).

The second half was one way traffic for 20 brilliant minutes, the rest of the half largely nondescript, as Newcastle went into damage limitation mode, and we went into training session mode.

MP got most things right today, my gripe is changing 2 defenders again, when only one was enforced really, but that apart he did the right things for me.

Why did Newcastle deserve to be 2 up is that because the pundits said so, Joe Hart did his job as a keeper should as did Krul or are you going to ignore our missed chances

I'll hold back on lavishing him with praise for now.

Sterling limped off, so that change was probably forced. And he'll be back with Sterling on the left and De bruyne on the right in our next game(fitness permitting).

This win is entirely down to the players..Namely Aguero, Silva and De Bruyne.

When was the last time he got it right from the start?

We feel your pain lol.

This place

"Clappers"= We lose it's down to the players, we win it's the manager.
Or
"Flappers" = We win it's down to the players, we lose it's the manager.

Bit of both I think.

Tbf imo and pretty much everone's around me yesterday thought we did well to get to half time level, i am struggling to remember the 6 or 7 very good chances we had in the first half like a few on here have said
Credit to Pellegrini though for turning it round.

I agree but a bit of common sense is needed by some, I was still a little worried at half time as Newcastle were playing decent 20 minutes later I wasn't

You are struggling to remember them because they didn't happen. The best chance was from the rebound of De bruyne's free kick. Other than that, Aguero had a shot from outside the box that missed and a few other bits and bobs but I don't remember Krul making any other saves. We were poor first half.

Sorry Mr Ed, no such thing as "deserve" in football...you either score your attempts or you don't, you either defend your goal,or you don't...that's about it really fella.
