From who?
Ferran runs Manchester City. He is the boss. Sheikh Mansour is the owner; he doesn't run the company. He could potentially remove anybody he liked but why would he?
People have an incredibly simplistic view of how City works. It's a business, you don't sack all of your management and executive team because they made a bad decision or Crystal Palace beat us. They are judged over 5 year periods not 5 months.
Obviously if you judge Ferran on his entire tenure he's doing an excellent job.
But can you say if you judge Txiki on his can you say the same thing?
I'd say he's done a good job, not outstanding. I think you can see the logic in all of his signings, whether or not they've all worked and come to fruition. I think you can say the academy side, where he's had a role in signings there and the restructuring of the staff, has worked wonders. I think he's done well on the sales side, and the way he conducts his business, and the way our transfer dealings now get portrayed in the press, and his whole contribution to CFG and building our brand, which in his direct and indirect contributions he's played a key role in, has moved us forward strongly as a club. So I think he's done a good, if not outstanding job, with his main remit, first team recruitment, not quite firing on all cylinders, but not baffling at the same time.
This summer is critical to people's perceptions of his contribution though, that's for sure. Even for me, with some of the names we're rumoured to be after, which concern me. With the shackles off, and all the tools he needs at his disposal, he needs a good success rate on both capturing big players and on them being a success. He's been juggling eggs the past year or so, now he gets to chuck them at whoever he pleases, I just hope it isn't overly English, and especially not Wilshere or Henderson.
