I'm struggling to see how Ancelotti has handled big ego's for a sustained period at a club. He has managed 'elite clubs' in Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid and won 3 league titles in over 15 seasons. That is an absolute shocking return for a so called 'elite' manager. I couldn't care less about he CL record because you need a large degree of luck in the competition. There is no hiding place for managers in the league and for me he is worse than Mancini.

Pep and Klopp on the other hand are masters at playing a certain style and they have the results to back their style. With our squad needed a huge rebuild and our academy on the rise, we should be going all out to get either of them two and transforming this team.
Pretty sure that actually points at Ancelotti being better at managing egos than Pep (4 years management of a player absolute max) and Klopp (always lost his best players).

To dismiss Ancelotti's Champions League record (incidentally the best ever) is plainly insane.

He didn't struggle too much when he knocked Pep out 5-0 on his way to arguably the most high pressure Champions League win of all time.

Every discussion that discounts Ancelotti is horribly flawed imo.

Firstly, it's impossible to blame a manager for a player leaving if it is to a club where there is more money on the table and/or a better chance of winning things.

Secondly, every discussion that people have about Pep is also flawed. There is the same rhetoric about him walking into the perfect squad and easing to success. The fact is that Pep managed Barca to the highest level any club has got to in this generation. They were a trophy gathering machine who were unplayable.

Thirdly, do you believe that Ancelotti's domestic record is good enough?

Ancelotti would have been the perfect replacement for Mancini as he would have been bringing a squad together, adding a few players and competing for trophies. However, we are not at that stage anymore. We need a rebuild and a style to adapt that rebuild to. When there are managers like Klopp and Pep (maybe next year) on the market you do not risk your chances of getting them by going for Carlo IMO.
I think Serie A is a hard thing to judge Ancelotti on as it wasn't exactly a level playing field at the time. Even then he won 2 CL titles in his spell at Milan.

Outside of that Carlo has won a double in 2 seasons in England, a ligue 1 in 2 in France and a Champions League in a full season in Spain.

What's more he is proven at coming into the biggest clubs and delivering instant success with not a huge level of change.

I rate Pep, Carlo and Mourinho as possibly the 3 best managers in the world today all things considered. I'm surprised to see so many people putting him below that tier.

It's a personal preference for me on character, adaptability and playing style I prefer Carlo to Pep. But I do like Klopp over Pep too for the potential.

If we were going for potential then Vieira would get my vote but even that has flaws.

Trouble is there are no cast iron guarantees Klopp can replicate that 'passion'.

Pep an easy 1st for me followed by Ancelotti and Klopp a close 3rd.

Hopefully we can get over the line in the last 6 games and nail 2/3rd or even 4th.

Whatever happens will be a really exciting summer.

I used to live in Dotmund and go to games (long before Klopp). They were always good, noisy fans but the atmosphere in the ground when I have seen them recently on TV has been stunning. I would like some of that

Perhaps people want Klopp because he comes across as a bit crazy, and City as a football club is also a bit crazy.

A crazy manager for a crazy football club, what could possibly go wrong !

On Klopps footballing style whats to say he wouldn't want to play a more possession based game, I imagine it would have been quite difficult to at dortmund as they kept losing their best players every season.

On what would happen to the likes of Silva, he had Kagawa as an important member of his team for a while didn't he? a similar sort of player, So I wouldn't be that worried.

Honestly though pretty much anyone is better that Pellegrini.

I'd love Klopp or Pep and Ancelotti, but I don't really get this anyone but Pellegrini, for me apart from about 5 or 6 options Sticking with him and a much improved squad wouldn't worry me.

you could buy messi ronaldo bale and sanchez but if he plays them as a back 4 you lose. his formations and tactics have been strange to the extreme.

Agree, he seems to be really emotionally involved with Dortmund and their fans are brilliant (probably something to do with the cheaper ticket prices)

He'll end his time at Dortmund after 7 years, maybe his methods just stopped being as effective and he was reluctant to change. He worked with a small budget up until the last two seasons, it seems like the costly signings haven't really produced and that paired with bad luck on the injury front has killed them this season.

I read some things earlier in the season saying he dislikes clubs that just splash the cash, the article probably referring to us and PSG and he likes to build a real connection with the fans or some shit.

There are no guarantees no matter what we do. We could stick with Pellegrini and it be great or a disaster. Same with any new manager. I guess the management team have to make that decision based on which they feel is the most likely to achieve success and fits best with their model.

Personally I think Pellegrini will still be here at the start of next season.
