I'm still not worried. Txiki is one of the best in the business, and after last summer where his signings were mocked, he'll be doubly determined to prove his doubters wrong. Our club won't tolerate failure, and he's one of the best in the business. By the time the season starts we'll have he strongest squad and starting XI

Yeh good points mate, I get where you're coming from. However do you think the "Take it or leave it" approach would have worked when we signed Yaya? Or Tevez, or Silva, or Aguero? Without question they're the 4 best players we've signed since the takeover, all of them were bought on Garry Cook's watch, and I don't think his approach was "Take it or leave it".

Since 2011, we have not signed a world class talent. There are numerous reasons for that, but it is a matter of fact. In the first 3 years after the take over we signed 4 world class players. In the last 3 we've signed none. We've taken a different negotiating approach in the last 3 years. Maybe the two things are unrelated. Maybe they're not.

Txiki has got 7 or 8 weeks to conclude the deals to kick start the next phase of this City team. I've got faith he can deliver. I just hope City fans are brave enough to judge him on his performance and not on his reputation.

No I don't think it would have worked back in 2010. Back then we needed Cook selling our potential and the dream backed up with suitcase full of cash. But we are a different proposition now and we are no longer selling potential but reality with trophies in the bank. It's a different sell and we have a different approach. It won't always work but at some point we had to go from 'lowly won eff all' status to serious contender for titles etc. We have to believe top players want to come to us because if we don't believe they won't either.

What's he going to say to him? "Delphy you're going to start every game, never be subbed, Take all pens and corners, be captain and be 1st in the que at dinner time. He can't lie to the lad, its not Fifa when you tell them you're going to be a 1st team regular just so they sign. Even if he did say all that I'm struggling to work out how its his fault. The deal was obviously 99% done if he was scheduled to come in for photos and interview etc... If he changed his mind for whatever reason I fail to see how its txiki's fault?

Too many people blame him when they haven't got a clue what goes on behind the scenes.

The best players come at a premium.

If our main targets are going to be Pogba, KDB and Sterling then we should be expected to pay the clubs valuation.

If Txiki wanted to penny pinch then he should have earned his corn and looked at other alternatives in the first place.

I may have missed something but why do people rate Txiki so high?
He was at Barcelona before, how hard could it have been to lure people to Barcelona?

Totally agree mate. But surely between the Cook selling the dream approach and the Txiki demanding players go on strike to force through a move to Barca tactic, there is some kind of middle ground? Perhaps we've tried to move towards the latter too quickly in the last few years. We've seen world class targets like Hazard and Sanchez slip though our fingers because we don't want to be seen as being ripped off.

It's great that we don't get ripped off anymore, what's not great is that we've not bought a world class player since 2011.

Listen, we know us. City always get the last laugh, people talking shit now how we haven't signed and what not, does it really matter if other clubs are doing fast business. Patience is key in every aspect of life, even this.

One thing i've learnt about being behind City is we always get the last laugh.

Can't we have a sensible discussion instead of calling people out if they disagree?

Back on topic, does anyone know what experience in player recruitment Txiki had prior to Barca? It couldn't have been that hard to sell Barca to many players.
I just made the exact same post hahaha
Recruiting players to Barcelona can't be that difficult can it?

Unfortunately mate, there's one or two on here who rate him simply because he's associated with Barcelona. It makes them think City have arrived.

The book is still out for me. But I do think he'll turn it around this summer and deliver all 3 top line targets.

Hiring someone other than players just because they are associated with Barcelona is very bad idea I think.
He needs to deliver all three or he needs to go imo. He has not done well at City.
