Disgraceful MOTD coverage

motd these days (and for quite a while actually) -

avoid when it is actually on, sky+ it, after it is on watch the football, ffwd the bits in between the football

embarrassingly out of date panel
Out of date coverage full stop. Goals On Sunday shows how it should be done.

This. Shepherd and Kamara are generally fair and anchor the programme with humour and are generally positive about football....everything MOTD has lost.

You could see clearly that Komps was a little worried after the "stamp". He looks around at the ref and then belatedly grabs his own ankle as if in pain. IMO he did him.

i've read most of the thread and know a fair bit of it's about kompany, but my point was about motd, and it's panel being more than a bit shit these days and therefore not deserving of my attention. so ner.

What do you expect from this ridiculous institution. I find the whole tv licence system where you have to pay to subsidise channels you may or most likely will not use beyond a joke. Whilst I'm not a religous person I really couldn't believe this article.

Ha. How ironic, the article shows a picture of the University Challenge team from Corpus Christi.

I don't have Sky Sports so maybe I can't give a fair view, but it was the 'free weekend' and I watched it this morning and thought there was a bit too much talking. I thought the format of having guests on rather than regular pundits was good and perhaps this is what MOTD should adopt. They interviewed them for too long though I felt and thought they could have shown more of the action but maybe that's how it's meant to be.

Shephard knows less about English football than your average North American housewife but fairplay to him for battering the talentless "Lemar" a few years ago

MOTD2, which I usually find less biased, tonight also had a dig!! They said that Moyes was steaming about the foul by "Kompany on Cahill which resulted in Cahill having to be substituted"!! No mention of Cahill being the one getting booked or that 5 Everton players got booked yesterday!!

However they didn't have Lee Dixon on who usually sticks up for us, they had Hansen and Lawrenson's mate Shearer!!

I was surprised about that but it confirmed my suspicion that the BBC is moving away from calm, impartial reporting to the Talkshite model of deliberately being opinionated and controversial. Alan Green & Gary Richardson already do this and now even MOTD have gone down that path.

They obviously recognise they need to change things but have rejected the idea of better quality presenting and have decided to do it this way, in order to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
