Disiplinary at work

You've broken the rules and been warned about it once. Accept the punishment, which should be within company guidelines and move on.

Now your real problem is your perception that you are being bullied, harrassed or victimised at work.

yes but every 5 mins is a joke,give the bastards a inch and theyll take a foot(and i bet hes took a foot a few times).
My advice is to go into the office drop ya knob out and say if you don't let me use the phone youll will not be getting any of this..i will Guarantee she will be paying for your phone contract ..

It's in the Code of Conduct at his place of work. He's been caught once and warned, but done it again. And got caught again. Swallow it OP and wait the 2 minutes until the end of your shift in future.

That is a phrase familiar to many on off topic,and the reason why we have the 'phile,and some of them are out signing the Sex Offenders Register as I type.
And,much as I hate to speak for others,I should imagine that many of them would rather take their own lives than work a shift with you.

On your phone at work...disgraceful..

I'm on my phone all day.

Go to the toilet and use it there if they are being twats.
 
Where I work there should be no mobile phones whatsoever in the working areas this policy is dictated by NACOSS / NSI the industry govering body, as we deal with very sensitive information for some very high profile companies and individuals, however all of our staff are made aware that that they can have their phones about thier person albeit on vibrate or silent, should they get a call or text which is an emergency or are expecting , one family member Ill / Wife about to go into labour ect then they atre permitted to leave the office and go to the rest area to deal with the situation.

Sadly you always get some who abuse the privalge like the one who got caught playing that Draw Game on his iphone whilst at his desk.

It's got nothing to do with morale, the rules are that you don't mess with your phone while you are on your shift. Whether it is to protect personal financial data or to prevent poor productivity is unclear, but either way he's been told once and has done it again. It's all been laid out in the thread.
 
The best thing to do in future potential emergencies, is to say to HR in advance ''look, there is a personal family issue (explain) that requires me to have my phone on silent and I need to check it periodically. Is that OK''
They'd have to be heartless bastards to say no (depending on the security of the business, of course).

As with the majority here, go in, politely apologise, take the written warning and move on.
If you give us your number and time of hearing, we can call you 10 minutes later to see how you got on ;)

That's the point here - he's dealing with sensitive personal financial data. Most companies in that position will not allow staff to use phones or even pencil & paper.
 
Thanks everyone for the comments and everything is taken on board, its not a case of me whinging. Just asking for advice, I've held my hands up and expect an informal warning, which will be on my file for 6 months.

Just have to toe the line in the meantime, never caused any trouble in my job but end of the day, rules are rules.

I think he has got away with it lightly with just warnings..

On any factory shopfloor could and probably would of been dismissal with no warnings.
