Sounds a bit heavy handed to me!

It's not a way to improve moral and productivity

I think he has got away with it lightly with just warnings..

On any factory shopfloor could and probably would of been dismissal with no warnings.

Most firms have these signs nowadays.

Firm where i worked few years ago lost count the amount of folk they sacked for using mobiles, eating on the shopfloor or smoking in the bogs.

I remember 1 guy with 25 years service walking accross the shopfloor sucking a polo mint, dragged him in to see hr admitted it and was sacked on the spot......

Well, I got a first stage in informal.

Was expecting worse judging by the reaction of most on here.

Its a kick up the arse for me and get on with my job.

Got too much to lose with a young boy and mortgage, not worth losing my job over something so silly.

sorry cookie, i like you, but even THAT is something i would not make up.................coooooome ooooooooon man !!!
Am serious mate..
Must of been at least 20-30 people sacked for chewing gum or eating on the shopfloor in my time there(did about 15 years) and shit loads sacked for smoking in the bogs,it was a zero tolerence on site..

There were smoking shelters outside of the building thats where you went,if you were caught anywhere else..you got the bullet..

Same with eating canteen only..

If you have never worked for a big food company you will probably think....hmmm bolocks, but i should imagine heinz, kellogs and the rest have the same rules..

When i get chance i will dig out the handbook rules and stick um on here..

Yes squirty..

Even jewelry was banned except a wedding ring, however that was not a gross misconduct issue you would of gone down the warning route...

Fortunatly i worked on the loading bay side of things so always got away with a lot more than shopfloor workers ever did...

As a student I worked in a large bakery in Whythenshawe, so did no what we could and couldn't do
However regs are even tighter now and I should imagine the rules even stricter

I remember a Matt Bu**** losing his signet ring once
A ring was returned to the firm with the initials MB on it having been found in a loaf
Of course he denied it was his lol

Lol st the above to wind up merchants!

Not whinging, asking for advice.

If you have already owned up and on a verbal i should imagine a final written is on the cards mate(especially if your gaffer is a ****),they can last for 12 months so you need to be carefull fella.

Obviously different companies have different stages of procedure but usually it goes -

Verbal.

Written.

Final written.

You couldn't tell your boss as you still have a job there that no I am not going to pay £257 for a mobile contract taken out 5 years after I moved out of a house because the bloke has the same initial and some very vague similarities to surname. If they want to pursue it take me straight to court and quit the bullshit threats.
