Dispelling the 'extra Stoke Tickets' myth

The point being missed here is that the 'missing 2300' coudl have gone to 'loyal' mcfc fans through the loyalty scheme. As it is they have got into the hands of part timers who have 'pledged' their allegiance to City to no doubt only go and fleece a proper MCFC fan.
thats exactly whats happened to stoke fans as well. i know that some of you lot think tickets around here are like confetti, but theres loads of lads who ive known from the last 35 years of going, not being able to get one.

Just a thought - are these "FA family with team affiliation" seats adjacent to the opposing fans on the "long side"?
Could be this is a way providing safe segregation without reducing the total capacity too much?
i.e. keeping the opposing "hard core" fans away from each other by installing a few rows of semi neutral fans in between the warring factions without the need for a whole block of netting?

those missing 2300 tickets couldnt have gone to man city fans cus there in the stoke end not the man city end, you have taken more netureal tickets up than us (family fa tickets) thus those that were returned were allocated to us to sell to our fans meaning more genuine stoke fans get to see the game.

From the FSF

I can tell you exactly the reason for this.

Leaving aside the middle tier, there is no neutral area. Everywhere is either Stoke or Man City and the areas are equal in size. The so-called football family have to claim their entitlement and request in which area they want their tickets and unused allocations are given to the competing clubs.

If there is a less than 100% take-up of these allocations and if there is a bigger take-up for one club than the other, then the “smaller” club will inevitably get more “extra” tickets. Man City haven’t got any extra tickets because the take-up for the Man City areas from the football family is near 100%, but is less for the Stoke areas (this is not particularly surprising, given that, whether we like to admit it or not, Man City have both a higher profile and a bigger fan base)

So, in reality it evens out, because there are more Man City “supporters” in the “football family” areas. However, because they have got these tickets because they are either involved with one of the football family organisations or know someone who is, not through the Man City priority scheme, many of them may just be people with an affiliation to Man City, or people who don’t support either team but have a preference for sitting in the Man City area rather than the Stoke City area. As a result, we will have a higher proportion of more regular fans.

I have been informed by MCFC that Stoke havent technically been given 2300 more tickets by the FA.

They are tickets that have been returned to them by the FA as they werent taken up by the 'FA Family' and Sponsors etc.

City had 200 such tickets returned and these were sold within our ticket sales. The fact that Stoke have chosen to sell their 'returns' after selling their allocation is simply their choice.

In essence, there are more City fans within the FA Family etc than there are Stoke - makes sense as we know that there are Blues everywhere, neutrals too will probably choose City over Joke any day.

That said - bring on the day, bring on the Roundabout and most of all - bring on a win!

2 points here (1) our fans will have had to pay upwards of £300 to get their tickets, sjoke are getting them at face value (2) does this not mean that the City fans who have paid £300+ to get tickets in the east stand club wembley area are now likely to be stuck amongst a mob of 2300 sjoke fans? Not very nice for them is it?

As a local referee at the time, I once got a cup final ticket for the 1983 cup final between the rags and Brighton through the local referees society. As it happened, the ticket I got was for the Brighton end. So if that's anything to go by, the "FA family" etc tickets go all over the show and not just neutral areas.

Nearly 30 years on mind you, things could well be very different now!

you are (or were) a ref so you can just fuck off anyway lol

-- Sat May 07, 2011 7:42 am --

average gate 12k for the last 25 years before you got into the PL, so let's dispel this myth about "loyal sjoke fans". When you next get relegated it will be back to 12k to 15k average
