I agree bob, but i don't subscribe to the 'mercenary' bollox he gets labeled with or the abuse he gets! The lad had genuine reasons for going as do most players who move clubs. For 5 years he was excellent for us and will remain a personal favorite of mine.

David James made the same move siting 'personal reasons' and he gets an ovation from the fans! utter nonsense, they both served us well and deserve more respect!

People should read the myspace entry above and just put themselves in the same position, think about it before they spout the shite i've just read on this thread.

i was gutted when he left but i wished him well, inever agreed with the shit he got either. i simply feel he isn't of the level we require anymore

Regardless of what we think of him personally, hes past 30 and nothing like top 4 material.

Dunne and Nedum are much better players so a backwards step. Same goes for Bassong.

I dont see the point of signing a 5th choice central defender at this stage.

Distin is past his best and no better than what we already have. I could never accept him kissing the Portsmouth badge on his first return to us either.That is a real no no{reguardless of the bit of stick he was getting}
