Dizzie Rascal

He's like a lot of rap/hip hop/R&B artists. Alright when the studio has done its workover, but none too great live.

Almost every artist is like that, it's not really confined to a genre.

You're not wrong.

But I think that rap/hip hop is more production dependent than most.

Just watching highlights of V Festival and he's on.

WTF do people listen to this shite? I wouldnt give it the steam off my piss.

Anyone care to enlighten me as to his musical appeal?

I fucking hate him too. Can't understand why people listen to this shite. I'd rather eat cotton wool than listen to his music

Don't like his music at all, but tbh, there are only a few rap songs I actually like anyway.

Dizzee Rascal is a legend and the gatekeeper of UK Grime along with wiley, he really is a great artist. How ever live I have to agree he can fall short but rapping live is quite hard to pull off perfectly.
Now I know I'm old.
What the fuck is UK Grime?

I don't know, if I throw Cillit Bang on Dizzee Rascal, will he melt?

Dizzee Rascal got as far as he could on grime, it just isnt big enough to make him a world star so teaming up with top DJ's like Armand Van Helden and Calvin Harris was the best move ever, hes now got number1's and a massive fan base.

I saw Rascal stumble on the stairs in the Waldorf one time.......he must have been Dizzie!!!

Ooh you rascal, didn't you help him? Feeling a little dizzie myself due to the red wine. Oh, and by the way, I think he's C rap.

dunno about that, it all began as two turntables and a microphone. grime also came from live roots, and MC's rapping live on the pirate stations, so I don't buy that it's a particularly difficult genre to do live. perhaps it's just more suited to sweaty dark clubs than the main stage on a festival. personally I just think he's not much of a live artist he's taken the pop route now, fair enough the last single was a killer, but this crossover stuff is aimed at the radio, it has no live pedigree whatsoever, and his original stuff isn't really suited to the festival audience.
