Do people go 'out on the pull' anymore?

In my day (I'm early 30s) meeting girls consisted of actually going out of the house, to a pub/club and striking up a real-world conversation/flirting etc. It's how I met my wife. People who tried to find love on the internet were regarded as kind of social outcasts. Or at least people whose social skills weren't up to scratch.

Anyway I was chatting to a mate today who is single (& younger) and he said that he doesn't really go out anymore. How do you meet girls then? I asked. It appears that everyone uses the Internet to find love these days. I've been out of the game for so long I hadn't even noticed, but when I think about it does explain dwindling numbers in pubs/bars/clubs and also why every man & his dog is glued to their phone given any spare minute.

I still struggle to understand it a bit - profile pictures can be VERY misleading and for women doesn't this skip the whole 'love at first sight' thing that they crave?

They don't go out. If they do it's out at 10pm. In my day we hit Branigans for happy hour at 5pm, down 10 pints then make sure we were back in the local for last orders. This was in the year of our lord 1987- - - -

Great days and I am proud to say I contributed all of my teenage years and early adulthood to pubs. It was the last hoorah of the pub trade when pubs were pubs and high streets were packed.

The kids of today haven't got a clue and it's kind of sad.

The irony of all of this is that I met my wife in a pub but I met my gf on t'internet! :)

I can't flirt on the internet. There's too much time to re-read what you said and decide you sound like a bell end. I don't get how people do it.
