who do we get:

Rijkaard
Mancini
Schuster
Mourinho
Aguirre

the top 3 are all sat on their arses at the mo.

Rijkaard couldn't control his Barca squad so i wouldn't want him, Schuster was awfull at Madrid so much so they got the donkey that is Ramos to replace so no thanks either, Mancini isn't exactly experianced and has only ever managed in Italy and only ever did a half decent job with a capable title winning squad... I'd question what he could do with our "squad" as it is right now.

Mourinho would interest me at the end of the season if things were really that bad... but i'm currently not one for wanting Hughes out. I'd like to see who else he can bring in this window and during the summer.

Rijkaard is the only one I think is realistic on the above list. I'm sure that Mancini and Schuster would jump at the chance but the fact that Mancini was touted with the QPR, Sunderland and Blackburn jobs speaks volumes and Schuster was hardly a success at Madrid was he? As for Mourinho, I don't think he would come (yet) and admittedly I don't know a great deal about Aguirre.

Who would be your choice MCRJON?

I'm with you on Mourinho (as an option in the summer) but am also for giving Hughes time. I really want Hughes to succeed but he makes it difficult for us to not turn against him when the team turn in pathetic performances week-in week-out.....

Mancini won the Italian League with 3 different clubs (Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter). Fiorentina were not a winning team when he took over, they were bankrupt.

He would be an excellent choice for City.

how are people defending a manager who played for a 0-0 against a fourth bottom championship club (3 defensive midfielders) and get battered by NOTTS FOREST!!!

I'd take Mancini as manager with his mate SGE as director of football. SGE knows most of the squad and Mancini's son was with us last year, so the problems that exist at the club shouldn't be a total shock to either of them.

If that were true I would agree but has Roberto Mancini really won the league (as a manager, not as a player) with Fiorentina and Lazio?

And even that's not quite correct. He won Scudettos as a player with Sampdoria (1991) and Lazio (2000). Irrelevant really.

As a manager, he won Coppa Italias with Fiorentina (2001) and Lazio (2004), plus 3 Scudettos with Inter (first one was handed to them after the match-fixing scandal.)

Successful? Yes. But the point still stands that he has no experience outside of Italy, which isn't great preparation for taking on a struggling English team half way through a season. Oh, and would he be psychologically up for it after his meltdown at the end of his Inter tenure? He lost a game in the Champions League and threw his toys out of the pram, leaving the team is dissarray. He'd have to toughen up if he came to City, that's for sure.
