Do we need an enforcer or governor like Kompany?

after the “sack pep”and “sell them all and start again” reaction to Norwich beating us, I wonder if the loss shows that we miss the big presence of Vincent to gee them all up in a game like that, I know they are all professionals and should be able to get themselves up for games like this, but I feel we definitely needed a Harry Maguire Or an Ake to be the replacement for Vinny, Stones can’t be that enforcer but would be brilliant feeding off a CB like that.In the same way Liverpool have improved with Van Dyke, I feel the lack of a big presence in that defence will affect us.

I really don't think Harry Maquire or Ake would be vocal leaders in the dressing room

Having a cb who is better than Stones & Otamendi, is obviously a good thing, but what could he have done alone v most of the goals we have conceded so far ?

I doubt Harry Maguire would have made any difference at all.

Maguire and Ake aren't any better than what we have and they're not natural born leaders either. Speak to any Leicester fan and they'll tell you Evans was the better defender, speak to any Bournemouth fan and they'll tell you why Simon Francis and Steve Cook would be captain before him. They both look good playing for teams whose ambitions are to finish in the top six and finish in the top half respectively, but our ambitions are far greater and there's no suggestion of either of them being good enough to play our system. Otamendi and Stones have already shown what they can do playing under Guardiola so I reckon we give them a run of games and see how they do.

Men like Kompany are rare. He is a natural born leader and statesman. He is someone people listen to, look up to and seek out when things go wrong. As well as being a great player and imposing physical presence when fit he has an aura about him. He is the man in the bar or on public transport who sorts out the bully while everyone else is cowering or looking the other way. In a disaster or crisis he would be the one who would step forward, take control and find a way out. He would lead and others would trust and follow. We are just lucky he chose to be a footballer and our club to lead for eleven glorious years. He will be bloody tough to replace.

Yes every team needs a strong leader I think in time KDB will become that person.
Yes it looks like we should have got another CB but Maguire wouldnt suit us, I think he is to slow and is not a leader.
Like some have said Vinny will be a hard act to follow perhaps that's why Maguire went to utd. After all cant be hard to follow phil the face and co. If City really wanted Maguire and he really want to come here it would of happen. He might have wanted to come here if its true what he said in the papers, pep and City weren't 100% sure on him so he chose his second choice, after City wouldnt go to his fee

If you think football is about "geeing them all up" you're in the wrong century. That's something Wilf Wild would have said to Sam Cowan and Peter Doherty. in fact that might have disappeared by then n'all.

Until Saturday we comfortably looked the best team in the country. Our performance against Spurs, depsite actually looking tired in the last 15 minutes, was one of the most dominant displays we've seen by us under Pep against a decent side. We'd conceded the fewest amount of shots and goals in the first four games.

Football is not about being "up" for a game; it's about tactics, exploiting space and concentration.

Kompany played just four games for us from 1st September to 27th February last season, and only played in 7 games in that 18 game winning run in 2017-18. He's missed many many games over the years, it's not like he's been this everpresent captain and leader on and off the pitch every day in the 11 years he was with us. A fair amount of his time he will have trained alone and not been in the changing rooms for games as he will have watched from the stands.
