Manchester City are to bid for Midfielder Sami Khedira as they look to strengthen their depth in Midfield.

City are set to be without Yaya Toure for up to 8 weeks from January as the Ivory Coast international plays in the African Cup of Nations and reports in Spain are suggesting that Manager Roberto Mancini could look to German Sami Khedira as a replacement and potential partner in the centre of the park.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho signed Khedira after the player shone in 2010’s World Cup and recently scored his first goal for the club last month, and it seems as though Khedira is on Roberto Mancini’s shopping list as he looks to re-enforce his title challenging side.

Reports are suggesting that Manchester City owners are prepared to meet Real Madrid’s demands but will not be bullied into paying excessive transfer fee’s and will look to pay in the region of £25 million but in recent days Spanish Media outlets are suggesting that Khedira may be offered along with a fee for out of favour Carlos Tevez

Don't know that much about him tbh but he does appear to have been injured a few times for a 24 year old! Whatever, I'm happy to go with what Roberto and City decide (and getting shut of Tevez would be a bonus)...

If it gets rid of Tevez without us bending over id take anything. Like you imply though Hydemcfc do we need him ?. I say no we don't as we have a deep squad of good players. Any top player can adapt to cover injuries etc, if they cant well they are not a top player and then we worry.

i.e. Micah could do a job as CB as could Zabba etc etc.

i don't think we do, dejong, milner and barry can play holding, then that leaves silva, nasri, johnson and even aguero can play in front of these. i think we will be fine for 4 weeks to be honest.

Always thought that Real is where Carlos will end up.

Would think we could find someone better to take from them though than Khedira.

With ndj's contract still uncertain and hargreaves' constant injury, a holding midfielder is an emergency.plus yaya has to leave in jan. So yes we need him!

Di Maria would be nice but I don't think that'd happen. Never really been a huge fan of Khedira so I hope this isn't true. Would rather have de Rossi.
