Do we take too much stick at home games??

307, 308, 309 all sing.
I sat in 307 for the first three years at the CoMS and moved because it was shocking up there!

Last season when Poznań were up there I could hear them loud and clear above me from my seat in 105. I have never heard you guys when City fans are up there for every other game, never hear a thing.

And again, if you or your mates/family do sing, then you're not the ones I'm calling out are you?

I know your not calling the people out who do sing. The fact is though our block joined in the majority of the songs against Swansea. I also moved to get a better atmosphere, and compared to before this is a lot better.

I think you'll find the majority of away supporters tend to sing you'll always find as away fans you make most the noise even when ya teams loosing you're always noisy bastards.
I've been to a fair share of away games (not as many as I've liked to but will be going more this season) and when we're loosing or just generally having a shit day fans are still full voiced and we've ended up drawing or winning, but if its vice versa (loosing at home) fans sit there rubbing their forehead asking "what the fuck has gone wrong"

I would sing but seeing as I sit in the 3rd tier I wouldn't want to shame the entire tier by doing such thing.
Even the poznan looks dog wank up where I sit but a small majority of us still do it.

Away games > Home games
But you're comparing other English clubs. English atmopsheres are pretty much all shite. But why should we just accept this and get on with things as they are? Look at many German clubs, the likes of Atlético and Sevilla in Spain, and Greek and Turkish fans. It wouldn't matter if there was just two or three away fans or 15000; they'd still get completely outsung by the home fans.

While City are revolutionising our team on the pitch, the EDS, sponsorships, developments in and around the stadium, the store, the website, our global name..... I think us fans should all be revolutionising the atmosphere too!

Give no set of away fans the right to sing "you're rich, and you still don't sing" "3-0, and you still don't sing" "ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "nice ground, shit fans" "if we were rich, we'd sing more than you" "Man United sing more songs than you" "ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!".............

-- Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:22 am --

Good! Hopefully if you keep it up it will spread across your tier. As I said I'm sure there are a few people in every block who sing, it's just the ones around these people who don't bother.. if ten people around one singer can all just make that little bit more effort (I'm not saying paint themselves head-to-toe in Blue, wrap themselves in flags, bring in flares, stand on their seats and have to go to the doctors the day after because their voice muscles are fucked - i just mean put a bit more effort in!) then the whole atmopshere will improve ten fold. It's not a difficult thing, but so many just don't bother. It's as if they're embarrassed.

Keep working hard on those neighbors of yours in your sections! Don't give up!

I can only wish I could make it over there at least a couple times to try joining in on some of the songs.

Six of us moved so fortunately we can create our own atmosphere if needed. Seems quite a few around us are willing to sing as well. Will be singing ever game. Hopefully it will mean those who dont as much do a bit more.

What a load of shite.

Away fans will always take the piss out of home fans. We do it when we travel away.

On Monday night we were by far the louder support. I'd admit it if we weren't. It doesn't bother me.

We started off well and then went quiet. That was down to the frustrating last half an hour of the first half. At that point Swansea fans were louder.

In the second half we were far more vocal than the Swansea fans, especially after the goals flew in.

What I do find frustrating is how quiet we get in the last 10-5 minutes of a match, especially when we've got a good lead. It seems like people can't be bothered singing as the game is won. That's when we should get behind the lads and/or take the piss out of the away fans more.

One more point. My girlfirend sits above me( ;-) ) in the 2nd tier of the Kippax, right next to the away fans. She said when we did the Poznan all the Swansea fans were gorping, pointing and look in amazement. Apparently they looked well inpressed by it.(take note Poznan haters)

Personally I think only Stoke and perhaps Spurs(when they want to) have a better home atmosphere. Think for a minute and compare our usual home support/atmosphere to the likes of United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland, etc. They might make a lot of general noise, but they certainly don't sing as many different songs, and nobody is better than City at winding the away fans up.

Also don't forget, there isn't another PL stadium where the away fans are hemmened in on both sides by the home fans singing sections, and who take the piss and have loads of banter.(if you can think of another PL ground like that feel free) The away fans must love the atmosphere and banter at COMS.

I sometimes look on the forums of other teams we have just played and they dont seem to love it. The away fans perspective is it seems a bit hostile. They claim the stewards are heavy handed and only target away fans not home fans. Quite a few seem to claim we are one of the worst away games for hostility both inside the stadium, and outside when leaving. Suprised me actually because i would have thought the same as you.

I think it was from the Swansea fans. They outsung us for the first twenty minutes when their side was on top and then apart from a few outbursts of Land of My Fathers (where they were unbelievably loud - as loud as Aris), they were pretty average for a contingent of their size for the rest of the match. They were also loud right at the very end but they were showing appreciation for their team's effort/work-rate in their first top flight match for a long long time so that's to be expected. Still I enjoyed their visit. Beats the shit out of most away contingents.

apart from a few outbursts of Land of My Fathers

I don't remember then singing that! And I sit right next to them.

I should know because it is one of my favourite National anthems.

I think you are getting confused with 'Hymns and Arias'.. Which mentions the song 'Land of my Fathers'

117-119 do their bit, 109-111 do their bit... neither are great but remember that both are tiny areas and they are even split up by a big group of away fans who make more noise than both City areas. Atmopshere is then very difficult to get going outside the X amount of people around you where you can hear each other in 117-119 or 109-111. I've walked around to both of these areas during games and when you're part of them it seems really loud and at times bouncing. But then when I remove myself from them and sit in my seat in 105, them two areas just don't sound all that good.

There aren't all that many in my block who ever bother to sing. I'm sure that's about the same anywhere from 101-108. And very very few of these ever bother to actually start sings off (apart from a few blokes at the very back of 104). I mean, come on, we were The Kippax! Yet we've become a boring MainStand-esque library. I fucking hate how quiet it is.

I blame City for not providing bigger vocal areas. But I also blame all the boring bastards who sit in the East Stand, sometimes in total silence. Where has that spirit gone from the Kippax? There's no way that all those tens of thousands that used to stand on the Kippax have all gone missing. Our vocal areas only hold about 2800 tops, and obviously many fans will have dropped away over the years, but surely a lot of people who currently sit in the East Stand are old Kippax fans, so let's show ourselves a lot more at games.

As the current shambles of a set up inside our stadium stands, the only way we'll really get a good atmopshere in there is if 101-108 get off their arses and make some fucking noise for once.

Hopefully we'll get the away fans moved over to 117-119(and 217-219) and we can get a mass if City together in 109-116 that will create a proper noise. And one day maybe City will actually make my dream come true and knock down the East Stand and build a giant one-tier'd super stand that is has the safe standing terracing, giving us back a tradition we had for many decades. But if this doesn't happen then it is down to us in East Stand Level 1 to get involved with those in 109-111 and 117-119 and get some noise going!

i sit in 242 and yes there is some old boring bastards that dont sing but the rest of us do! i do agree with you on the point of moving the away fans though, BUT having said that we should need to move them to get a better atmosphere should we? were the richest club in the world, we have got champions league football for the first ever time, and we have some of the best players in the world AND were fighting to win our first ever premier league title! and some of our fans STILL dont sing and moan its a joke! were very lucky to be in the position we are in! we all need to stand up and be counted and ALL sing, yes that means everyone! we need to get behind our lads this season its our most important one yet!
