Do you enjoy your job?

Sometimes i do. Get to travel and spent long periods in places like Prague, lithuania, Munich and Tenerife. Sometimes no like tonight when im stuck in a shitty hotel in Livingston. The work is varied and interesting to me and the people i work with are mostly decent.

Shite pay and management that haven't got a clue, no training and staff retention is none existent because of it.

Take away the shite pay (well, its not great but for my age and experience, i'll take it) and this pretty much mirrors my current experience. Been at my current place for around 5 months, after leaving my position at a national retirement homebuilder after 18 months. I left there due to being a bit bullied/victimised by an absolute wankstain of a manager (whom I would love to have a quiet word with if I ever saw him in a pub or whatever - that **** made me feel like no one else ever has, either in school or work). My current place lured me in with a decent bonus structure that was scrapped around two weeks after I joined, and gave me an incremental salary rise. I would accept that but there are others in other departments who are being bonused still - a bitter pill to swallow when I believe I provide more service than they do.

I recently decided I would like to get into counselling after having gone through sessions of my own for around 6 months, and finding it a massive help with my life. Overall I feel much happier and would love to put this back into the community. Infact, if any posters could give me pointers on how to get into this i'd be grateful. Worth a go I guess!

I work in a finance / banking type job I deal with lots of business including prem football clubs so that side is interesting but its not an easy job by any stretch. I have been in a small uk firm for years but just about to move to a big US firm! Expect my post count to drop of a cliff.

It’s just like the film Wall St without hookers, drugs, parties etc.
So, the good bits?

Not a fucking bit ! Used to enjoy it but it's taking the piss now . One person in particular is pissing me right off and she knows it . Need to get out before I shit through her letterbox

Hate the company I work for, they have become less and less bothered about people in the business and increasingly focussed on the numbers. This has led to some awful decisions, restructures every year, no training etc etc. unfortunately the pay is excellent.....

I hate my job.

Used to have an easy job, loads of holiday, money was only okay.

Now I get paid more but can only describe it as a feeling of drowning. 12 hour days, constant stress.

New career needed but accepting the job with more money makes dropping back so hard to contemplate.

Anyone switched careers ?

Own a small village pub. Real fire, real ale. Open 30 hours a week. Getting by, not getting rich. It must be enjoyable as I've stayed here longer than anywhere before in my life, but I still get pissed off occasionally and fancy a change. I guess happiness at work is just a state of mind.

Three months into a new job. Change of career, new challenge. So far so good.
