Reading through a number of threads from either off topic or just general city talk it’s alarming the number of exceptionally negative people about.

Now the definition of positive thinking is;
Positive thinking is an emotional and mental attitude that focuses on the good and expects results that will benefit you. It's about anticipating happiness, health and success – essentially, training yourself to adopt an abundance mindset and cultivate gratitude for your own successes and those of others.

For example some people seemingly always think the worst whether it’s Covid news or just a general mentality, while I try and shelter the crap and just focus on the good times hopefully coming - - as truth be told too much bad news makes me anxious and isn’t productive to ones mental health.

Just curious how people feel in general as I know the mind works in mysterious ways and people probably really dwell on possible bad news rather than the probable good times.

I honestly think we are in for an incredible summer with jobs thriving and a really boom in most sectors.

Funny thing, I have always had a positive mental attitude about things I set my mind to, but always seem to be more fatalistic about the expectations I have for many others, esp people I don’t know too well. Helps being pleasantly surprised every now and then, and doesn’t deflate me when the best doesn’t always happen.

Sadly, in my industry, it has helped me maintain some sanity through a company bankruptcy, massive pay cuts, loss of pension, and now another round of serious cuts due to COVID...yet always feel comfortable and confident on the flight deck.

Sorry to hear that!
I personally work in the recruitment sector doing hospitality, so with 2 young kids and excluded due to starting in March 2019 I can appreciate how hard going it can be.

Keeping ones mind thinking about the good times ahead truly keeps me happy, and just finding small things in the meantime like exercise or planning for the summer just makes getting up in the morning a good thing.

I think I'm a pretty pessimistic negative person, but then I come on here reading some of the stuff (particularly about covid) and wonder how people bother to get out of bed in the morning.
