Worn them since my teens but thinking of laser surgery now. The idea of just having to think about sunglasses and nothing else is very appealing, my house is littered with different types of glasses for different things …
1. Varifocals:
Great for general use but I find watching TV quite hard unless sat in one position, you have to hold the head so the eyes look through the distance part of the lens otherwise things start to get blurry.
2. Standard distance:
So I can watch TV as above
3. Computer lenses:
Varifocals cause me eye strain on the VDU especially in Teams calls, so I need another pair specifically for that in-between distance when working. Basically just reading glasses.
4. Driving:
I need varifocals for this BUT they have to be tinted.
5. Extra dark sunglasses:
The tints on the driving glasses are just not dark enough so I need a 5th pair which are standard lenses with a darker tint.
Five bloody pairs (plus a few spares) to juggle around every day. And when buying a pair there’s always the chance that you’ll find them difficult to wear after a time. Some press on the head above my ears and I can only wear them for an hour at a time. I’m also limited in the style I can buy, anything with thick arms and rims are a non-starter, they irritate the hell out of me, so I am essentially stuck with just one or two styles. Sick of choosing now.
