he's also an occasional BM poster, interested in what became of Tony Towers

Dave Bacuzzi? The other one further up I think is Bill Leivers, I was outside Craven Cottage watching the players arrive and Bill came over and gave us a couple of tickets. City won and we were on Match of the Day but of course no chance of getting home to watch. I cannot remember if it was late fifties or early sixties, the latter I think.

You should of sky plussed it mate - maybe on your iphone if you forgot to do it before leaving the house.

If I am not mistaken The Radio Times was on parchment in those far off days and written in Latin.

This has got me thinking now... Only two matches were shown, black and white, one static camera, video replays were still a thing of the future. The reporters were a mixture of Wolstenholme, Alan Weekes, Wally Barnes, a very young Coleman and others I cannot remember.
Anyway back to the Cottage, the BBC were not allowed to even say which matches were on and we only knew after seeing the camera in the ground. We knew that by the time we got across London for the football special home, a journey of about 5 hours if we were lucky, there was no chance of us seeing it.
The other remarkable thing was we were two 13/14 year olds that had no qualms about travelling down there on our own. Safer days indeed.
