The latest vote figures were 63.6% on a 83% turnout, were they not? 53% of members voted to strike then. Is that a big majority?

Even if you know what you're doing, the right ticket might take a dozen keystrokes from a machine, or a dozen words at the ticket office.Would much rather buy a ticket from a real friendly person than a machine, especially if involves a number of routes. Ticket machines can also be overwhelming for the elderly.
The train companies can afford to man trains and stations, pay staff a decent wage thus providing a better service for the public. They can also afford to reduce ticket prices on top of this and still generate a profit.
Or are people happy to pay extortionate prices for a toss and embarrassing service which puts more money in the pockets of wealthy shareholders?
