Do you support the RMT?

If you’re still undecided about who to believe out of the RMT and the government while they both accuse each other of not doing all they can to resolve this dispute, you may want to watch a clip of the transport minister Grant Shapps on Good Morning Britain, this morning.

He admitted in plain English that it is the government who decide how much rail workers should be earning. This is two weeks since he replied to Mick Lynch’s request for a face to face meeting to get this dispute resolved, by telling him it was none of his business and the train companies alone have the full power to agree whatever they deem fit.

One thing is an absolute certainty. He was either lying today or he was lying two weeks ago.
It has always been upto him to resolve the dispute.

He's a lying, Ponzi scheme creating ****.

Does anyone know if further strike action could be taken in August or if the two dates they have set are it? I need to book train tickets for bank holiday weekend but don't want to if there could be stike action that weekend.

Currently those are the only 3 dates.

The unions have to give employers a minimum 14 days notice.

Royal mail have voted to strike. 97.6% yes vote.
With a 77% turnout.
I think it's a record for a union.
Worth noting that the ballot was on pay only. Union insisted on isolating it away from the wider dispute, wisely imo. They've now served notice on a second ballot around 'the change we need' which shits all over 'the path to change' agreed just 2 years ago.

We will you can count on it.
We (DWP) have been offered 2 percent too.
For all those that don't know......Frontline Jobcentre staff no longer just "sign them on."
We are now expected to be a social worker, mental health aid worker, counsellor etc etc. Oh, and we have to recognize signs where a welfare check/police home visit is required.
Was listening to the news this morning where a teacher said exactly the same is expected of them.
No wonder the front line public service sometimes gets things wrong. And no wonder we are pissed off and demoralised.
And another thing while I'm at it....
I am partially retiring in September. 2 days a week. The civil service pension portal is not fit for purpose, and everything about it is shocking.
Can't wait to go, but the whole shenanigans of that shower of shite is stressing me out.
Rant over.

Might be some movement in rail dispute.

Our director meeting has been cancelled tommorow afternoon as the DFT have mandated a meeting with TOCs.

I spent two hours today being interviewed in school by the police about a safeguarding referral I’d made. They were ticking a box, I was ensuring the right boxes were ticked. I estimate 40-60% of my job is now consumed with safeguarding. Meetings with social workers, police, endless litany of professionals, all sucked into a cycle of accountability.
