Do you think you would be a better referee

Reffing is very difficult. It looks easy when you see it on the telly and 400 replays.

You gotta be fit to keep up with the game

Your view can be obstructed at any time

Sometimes you get caught ball watching

Sometimes you are focused on one person's aggression/anticipation and not the other and make the wrong call

Throw in the lack of respect, abuse from players, abuse from the sidelines it's a shite job, that's just Sunday fucking league. Magnify everything by a thousand in the top leagues, you gotta have some balls to make the calls, especially when you're under the microscope.

I'm sure many on here have come across the ref in the Hyde and District (Could be Tameside league) that looked like he had been chasing parked cars all week and doing the doors on Saturday night, who's pre match talk was any shit from you cunts and we will sort it out after the match. Came from Denton if memory serves me right

I don't mind bad decisions - they happen. And should just be part of the game IMO. Fuck VAR off.

The think that defines a good or bad referee to me is how they manage a game. They're the most important person on the pitch in terms of how a game goes - whether it's a good game to watch or whether they let teams get away with shit. The worst refs I've seen recently allow time wasting without really batting an eyelid.

In answer to the original question, not a chance.

I remember reffing my lad at grassroots football when we were desperate (trust me I was the last chance saloon) and thinking you got a decision correct but others didn't brought it home to me.

Multiply that by a million and add in players cheating and that's where top levels refs need to be.

The best £30 our age group spent every week letting someone else do it :)

Jon Moss, Phil Dowd, and Jeff Winter beg to differ.

I like the sound of him. Roland Rat at the swamp would soon learn to STFU!

No
'Refereed' a few primary school games and it's so difficult.
Who got the final touch?
Did they get the ball at all?
Are they actually injured or upset cause they are losing?
Absolute nightmare of a job!

I’d be brilliant reffing City’s games, I’d also be giving pens when the keepers handled in the area, against the rags and dippers … !
Well, intent is punishable...and we know none of rhem can resist a bit (or a lot) of cheating.
So, it may look random, but it's emminently justifiable pre-emptive game management.

My 17 year old lad has started reffing and is doing well. Reffing a lot of academy games up to under 15’s.. usually younger

Does the odd grassroots game where the disrespect and abuse is on a different level

Last week he did an under 15’s grassroots game and it was relentless.. mainly off the scummy parents on the side

He booked some scrote for spitting.. should really have sent off the filthy little ****. Then this lads mum who happened to be stood near me started. Screaming why didn’t you book the other lad to for kicking him (not sure he did) .. then screamed at my lad “you fucking prick”

I know I shouldn’t have but I lost it with the tramp. The skank never said another word

Funnily enough at the end most of them want to be your friend telling him well done Ref you had a good game
