I want to take the missus out on friday to a nice chinese resturant in the city centre, can anybody recommended a nice place to go.

I don't really do Chinese restaurants in town, but Yang Sing has a good reputation, and just outside town on Oldham Rd is the 'Glamorous' (part of the wing yip wholesalers) which is very good.

I've been to Glamorour, didn't think much of it but loads of other people like it

Best Chinese i've been to is The Rice Bowl which is in town on Cross Street
 
Wings! Top bloke is wing, lives in George Bests old house, there's one in Cheadle Hulme, think he stopped running it now though and its turned to shit. Hot spot for City players.

Haven't been in Glamorous ........ but i used to be quite a regular in the Taipan , at the junction of Upper Brook St/Brunswick Street ...... very good chinese restaurant as you rightly point out ... plenty of room , plenty of staff , and a lot of chinese eat there too which is always a good sign . secure 'manned' car park too ......... it's gone a bit pricey of late though.

Go to Tai Wu's at the bottom of portland street. you will not regret it. I have been over 20 times.
 
No such thing as a nice chinese restaurant in town, all kitchens filled with rat droppings.

Splash out and go to Man Zen in Hale village

This place is average at best , all buffet kind of stuff , the food isnt bad but there is no atmosphere in the place.

Its more of a place to go and have a quick scran in the afternoon rather than take the missus out to dinner

Spot on, Wing is a top bloke, best Chinese restaurant by a mile in my books. If it's a romantic meal ask to be seated in a booth. If you don't want to pay too much I'd suggest New Emperor.

Agree, Rice Bowl for me every time. You'll have to book cos its always busy
