Have you tried Lichess, its puzzles are also endless, its analysis of games is deeper and it is free and without adverts. To get the max from chess.com you need a paid membership (I pay). The one downside to Lichess is it has fewer users than chess.com so it can take longer to get a game. The upside is when you get a game it is usually a reasonably strong player as Chess.com gets all and sundry in ability as it’s the first up on search engines.

A lad who went to the same school has me became a Grandmaster. I remember playing him, I had all my pieces, he had King & Queen & 8 Pawns. Beat me within a couple of minutes.

I played for my school, 4th board, no Fisher, but not bad. I havent played too much since, but every now and again a family member or pal will think they're a master and I put that right.
I represented us for our football teams, athletics squad, table tennis snd Badmington. My Nerdy chess teammates were surprised that, not only I played, but was better than most of them. Only 3 players were better. I really enjoyed it. A marvelous game for us strategically gifted brain boxes, who could also make all the Sport's teams.

And my hair. It really was unfair.

Back at school, a British Master came and played 12 of us with him going from board to board each move. He made a mistake against me and I won.
Not really played for a long time.

Domxdon on chess.com ..Taught myself to play when I was quite young, definitely still in primary school, by watching an open university program on Sunday mornings. From learning the basics I got an electronic mini board and learnt more by playing the higher levels.

I play on there daily, even more so recently as I'm recovering from an op so am bored shitless at the moment. Usually just play matches against random opponents, but should probably start following the lessons a bit more to up my ratings.

ta, it really was incredibly obvious from memory - something like 'here, take my rook'.
I played no.3 board for effectively Surrey at U11/U12 - the school no.1 was 2nd!

My father taught me the game when I was about 10 or 11, he thought I was quite good. He took me to visit a family friend in Manchester who was a champion at some level. I'd never hear of "Scholar's Mate" before.
