But you couldn't stand on the Kippax even if we hadn't left.True but the question I answered was, do I wish we still played at Maine Road and why ..
Lots of standing around nowadays mate, the Kippax could easily have returned ..But you couldn't stand on the Kippax even if we hadn't left.
At first yeah, but then all bit tedious and very tiring as a eight year old, we walked to the match for years I just got used to it in the end.Are we there yet? Is something you knew very very well mate.
I think there is an awful lot of nostalgia in your view that the match day atmosphere will never be as good as Maine Road. I can remember some unbelievable atmospheres, at the Etihad and moments, like the Aguero moment and the Gundo moment where the roof was lifted off the Stadium miles better than anything at the Maine Road. The match day experience at Maine Road was far better than the Etihad ever has been or will be for me..
I know im a FOC but having sampled both many times, there is no contest.
Standing in the Kippax watching the mighty Blues will never be matched ..
in those days, football was for the fans, alas those days are also long gone…!!

I agree mate, nostalgia does stuff to people of a certain age :-)I think there is an awful lot of nostalgia in your view that the match day atmosphere will never be as good as Maine Road. It does to me as well but when you think of it you always remember the better things that happened, which were fewer and fewer as we got to end of Maine Road and there was a lot of negativity about the City of Manchester Stadium, as it was at the time, it actually turned out it was the best thing to have happened to the club with regards to success. We've had the best of times at this Stadium and long may it continue.I agree mate, nostalgia does stuff to people of a certain age :-)
Very true mate, Ive loved every second of it..!It does to me as well but when you think of it you always remember the better things that happened, which were fewer and fewer as we got to end of Maine Road and there was a lot of negativity about the City of Manchester Stadium, as it was at the time, it actually turned out it was the best thing to have happened to the club with regards to success. Them were the days.:-)Very true mate, Ive loved every second of it..!
It is weird though not standing in piss and looking at the algae growing on the piss stone in the Kippax toilets ..
The walk back was worse if we got beat and pissing downThat's quite a long walk from Sackville St to City. My Dad used to park up in the side streets off Dickenson Rd, Rusholme.

Kippax | Jimmy Sirrel's Lovechild
Playing down at Maine Road It’s impossible to separate Maine Road from Moss Side, in history or in memory. The story of one is the story of the other. That was not always a positive thing…jimmysirrelslovechild.co.uk
Apart from those discovering Oasis the first time around. No tourists. Yep.
I'm not sure the 100 × Atmosphere bit is correct tbh pal. Only on selective games. It was dreadful in huge time spans as other grounds were too. I do get the feeling a lot of our fans think back and almost want to create the thought that is was absolutely rockin and bouncing every game back then and it simply wasn't the case.2 minutes walk from mine, atmosphere 100x better, cracking banter with the away fans top corner of the Kippax, much more of a “belongs to us” feeling than the Etihad, better boozers, better scran places, could get away with putting a spliff to bed. Loved it.
The football is miles better at the Etihad but the vibes aren’t in the same universe.
Yes magical moments, but they were us winning the league, do you think that atmosphere would be like that when playing Swindon midweek?I think there is an awful lot of nostalgia in your view that the match day atmosphere will never be as good as Maine Road. Season ticket holder at both grounds, granted it wasn't rocking every game at Maine Road, but tje togetherness and the laughs were a lot better, Everton at home the other week you could hear a pin drop, I had a bunch of Italians next to me, and the whole game they just kept saying go Gi Gi, they were there purely for donnarummaI'm not sure the 100 × Atmosphere bit is correct tbh pal.
