Running, climbing gyming. chopping wood, lifting weights or whatever.

There is something to be said for pushing it. For absolutely taking it to the limit and burning yourself physically. There is no feeling like it.

A few days ago, I trekked through miles of deep snow and ice climbed on kinder downfall. It was awesome, but I was more knackered than I can describe when I got home. Had that feeling a few a times - from mountaineering and running usually. When you have really pushed the limits, you get a big, big buzz.

Anyone else got this?

I get this feeling a lot and it is a massive buzz especially when I do well in long distance races/Cross country or from long runs. I can't wait for the fell running season to start and go nuts on the hills in the peaks, I have missed out on the xc season this year as I have too much work and attending city at the weekends.

this thread title ... had so much potential.

seriously though i know what you mean, i used to fancy myself as a cross country runner, but hated it at the same time. every year i would tell myself i wouldn't do it, or if i did i wouldn't take it seriously etc. ... every year i'd end up running county races. wierd thrill.

i love it! done it a few times with various mates and people. its not about pushing yourself for me, i love taking in the scenery cos its changes each time you look back(skyscapes, landscapes, cloudbursts ).if you pace yourself with the people around you and play it safe- it is the best buzz out there! its a nice time-out space as well as being refreshing with all the clean air rushing thru` you. plenty of sarnies, chocolate, some hot tea or soup and its a day well had! i ve had a few great days out trekking, nice places to meet fine people!!! a must at least once a year!

Does collapsing in a breathless heap after playing 40 minutes of very low standard 5 a-side after living in a practically vegetative state for a month count?

Probably not, but it was pretty hard work all the same.

Ha everyone has their own limits fella...

Myself after a hard mma sparring session involving fresh opponents every 5minutes followed by curcuit training collapse with exhaustion, but "have" to get up because im getting battered... physically vomiting on some occasions, still have time for a smile.
Then after this cycle all the way home....

MMA are you crazy it is a step too far. Love the sport but would never think about doing it. Something about getting elbows to the eyes I dont like. Fair play to you.

I rode round the garden once it's not easy cycling on grass you know it near killed me

This man might serve as an example for us all when it comes pushing and finding own limits:
