I remember a show made by Michael Moore where a 'truck of communism', (painted red with the hammer and sickle on it) was taken through part of the U.S., to see the reaction of people.
Amongst various incidents, the truck was set on fire, which probably demonstrates in a nutshell, the attitude towards left wing politics!
