In the story of the unpleasant comments to the widow a bigger story is being lost. The US troops didn't have armoured vehicles, the air support they had was French and unable to help due to their rules of engagement and the soldier who died was left behind by a private contractor who failed to do a head count. He activated his GPS beacon after the 'rescue chopper' had left, so was still alive and his body wasn't collected for 2 days.

Thing is, sometimes the most normal seeming bloke in the world just loses it and kills his entire family for no apparent reason. Who knows what demons he's been hiding. Would anyone of moderate intelligence be remotely surprised if Trump had a similar meltdown whilst in office? A psychopath's ultimate power-trip. I can't see someone of his personal character being positively influenced by the acquisition of great power; he's a clear and present danger to world peace (such as it is).

I just hope the appropriate control measures are in place and they are robust enough.
