Actually it might be infrastructure as this was on an existing bit of the route. Rumours that it might be driver error (speed). That doesn't change the sociopath's first tweet and political pointscoring rather than sympathy to victims.

But he's also cutting Amtrak's subsidy for some routes so even his infrastructure spending plans have a downside.

There was someone I heard yesterday saying that there is resistance in Congress to spending on infrastructure in order to pay for tax cuts.

I’m sure they wouldn’t run a new high speed service over existing infrastructure without carrying out any necessary checks and upgrades.

They might have borrowed their "Experts" from Network Rail....

Going back to that story. If the driver was speeding at 80 mph on track built for 30 that's a serious error which if deliberate should get the book thrown at them. I suspect though it's a new line and he was briefed wrongly on line speeds. It'll all come out in the investigation at I await another crass Shitgibbon's I told you so tweet after.

The concern, if I read it rightly from reports online, is not that Trump may sack Mueller, but DAG Rosenstein, Mueller's boss.

At present, Mueller has to report regularly to Rosenstein with updates and the sheer fact that there is no sign of any halt to proceedings, suggests that Rosenstein is satisfied with what's happening.

However, should Trump replace Rosenstein (who he recently called "weak"), with a more sympathetic person to his cause, then...

That would be worrying.

He'd nominate his son as well!

How can spending on infrastructure pay for tax cuts?
They're already adding over a trillion dollars to the debt for the tax cuts, infrastructure spending would make it worse. If anything they'd rather take the money earmarked for infrastructure and give it to their mega-donors through more tax cuts.
