A month ago he (or his minions) made a play of the Republicans' being the anti-slavery party (and the winners) in the civil war, so I'll assume the Lincoln Project (and anyone else) could play ads in the North saying that Trump seeks to honour Traitors to the Union, while in the South to his base they can remind people that he praised Lincoln's role.

"The Trump campaign, referring to the date of the (Juneteenth) rally, said his Republican Party was proud of its role in winning the Civil War and ending slavery." Is he really going to tell rallies in the South that he's proud the Confederacy lost?
