Donald Trump

As I predicted months ago... Trump declares a NE to save face and cater to his base. The only open question open is, "Why did it take so long?"

But if you can watch the Firing Line Interview With Chris Cristie then perhaps this isn't an open question after all.

The simple answer is that he doesn't want a wall. It was an ill though out campaign strategy that he realised very early after the election was actually a really stupid idea. Unfortunately for the American people, his ego is such that he doesn't want to be the one to give it up. His 35 day shut down stunt f*cked over a lot of vulnerable people, and cost the country a sh*t load of money in the process, for a wall he doesn't want, just to save his ego.

He wants the Democrats to block him, to save face. In fact the last 2 years have been about forcing the Democrats to block his plans at every turn, simultaneously shutting down his stupid idea and making the Dems look bad (to his base at least). If he'd have wanted a wall, he would have gone down the emergency funding route from day one, or signed off on the original spending bill, which offered a damn site more money than he shut the Government down for in December.

The $5B is a nonsense number anyway, as this won't even scratch the surface. I will take multiple contractor (designers/architects/civil engineering/steel manufacturers/transport companies/finance/lawyers/real estate) to realise his (sh*t) idea; and that's before it runs into problems and delays due to engineering issues and legal fights over land ownership. It will be over budget, and it won't be delivered on time. It will just be another one of those Government contracts where the contractor wins at a huge cost to the people, who didn't really want it in the first place.

Yeah, the thing a lot of people are missing is that he had 2 years to get this project funded and started when the Democrats weren't in a position in either house to block him.

Because he's massively insecure.

Same reason why the white House issued an image, showing him with bigger hands and more defined shoulders which had been clearly Photoshopped.

Nope, it wasn't that.

When candidates are asked to divulge medical records the extra height took him out of the BMI obese category, which can impact voter concern over Ill-heath in office.

His admission of a love for McDonald's has his weight at 17stone.

More of a factor if you are 6ft and not 6ft3.

His own physician signed off on it but further questions forced Trump to bring secondary confirmation from a Navy medical officer.

It kicked his BMI percentile down to below obese.

I think Trump's height exaggeration and falsification of weight do indeed primarily stem from insecurity. That the combined effect of these two lies means that he's not obese is secondary - but also can be viewed as evidence of insecurity.

This is the guy who had a record turnout in his inaugural address. As proved by numerous images. And which the White House Press Secretary is forced to repeat time and again.

If Ronaldo is insecure because he stands on tiptoe during a team photo - to artificially exaggerate his height - well, then, Trump has the Ronaldo-disease run rampant.

I considered that, but I took both 6'1" and 6'3" (on a UK BMI scale) he is obese either way.
