C/o The Hill:
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's military adviser said Sunday that Tehran will target "military sites" in response to the killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran's Quds Force, in a U.S. drone strike.
"The response for sure will be military and against military sites," Hossein Dehghan, a former Iranian defense minister, told CNN.
Dehghan also said that Iran "will not be seeking war" after the killing of Soleimani.
"It was America that has started the war. Therefore, they should accept appropriate reactions to their actions. The only thing that can end this period of war is for the Americans to receive a blow that is equal to the blow they have inflicted," he told the network. "Afterward, they should not seek a new cycle."
Dehghan also addressed President Trump's threat Saturday night to respond to any Iranian retaliation by targeting 52 unspecified Iranian sites, some of them with major cultural significance, calling the president's tweets "ridiculous and absurd."
"[Trump] doesn't know international law. He doesn't recognize U.N. resolutions either. Basically, he is a veritable gangster and a gambler. He is no politician. He has no mental stability," Dehghan told CNN. Dehghan cited United Nations Resolution 2347, which prohibits the unlawful destruction of cultural heritage. The resolution was adopted unanimously in 2017.
If Trump made good on the threat, "no American military staff, no American political center, no American military base, no American vessel will be safe. And they are accessible to us," Dehghan added.
Trump last Thursday approved an operation that killed Soleimani in Baghdad. U.S. officials have asserted there was evidence Soleimani was planning attacks that would put American lives in danger but have not provided details. Iranian officials have vowed a response to the strike.

It’s sad when it’s the Iranian advisers that sound more mentally sound than our allies.
