Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying the pardons are a good thing. It's actually reminiscent of the power of medieval kings rather than a modern democracy, but then again so is the death penalty and the right to bear arms I suppose...Nixon was, it doesn't make it make sense, and I think it would be a dangerous as a precedent when there are no charges laid (a second term president could do the same thing, and be absolved of any lawbreaking - as a fast track to dictatorship, that's well up there).
I don't see why there would be a resignation before about Jan 6th anyway, when Congress count the Electoral College votes. It only comes into play when he is confirmed as having lost.
