Also including those well-known wishywashy liberals like Cheney and Rumsfeld.
I think its a bit of both. He never had a master plan for the presidency, he just liked the idea.I sometimes wonder if Trump is being told things by someone else or if there's a greater power with leverage over him to force him to behave the way he is. It reminds me of Hitler in the bunker believing that Germany would fight back the Soviets to Russia whilst the Soviets were entering Berlin.
The reason Hitler was like this though was because he had a bunch of people around him feeding him only what he wanted to hear despite knowing disaster was imminent. You have to ask then not just for Trump but what's the endgame for everyone around him, all of whom are having their reputations destroyed purely by association?
Is Trump blind to what's going on or is he being advised by very misguided strategists on how to cling onto power, legally or not? Why would those people do such a thing? For the career politicians in his administration like Pompeo and Pence, are they in the bunker with him or are they now plotting for life afterwards?
I look forward to the moment when as plain Mr. Trump he walks by a soldier or a marine and doesn't get the crisp salute his narcissism craves. If he wasn't such a coward I would agree, but he won't want to be manhandled by security personnel. He'd probably shit in his nappy if that happened.
Also he wouldn't want to be seen to be in a situation where it looks like he's not in control. It would be too much for his fragile ego if he's not surrounded by sycophants calling him sir.
Excellent analysis.I think its a bit of both. He never had a master plan for the presidency, he just liked the idea.
With his property business he inherited a seedy operation from his dad that was looked down on by the new york elite and he wanted to get one over them. That was a plan and with some dodgy deals and shithousery on the way he did manage to move the Trump business model in to a high price / low class offering from the slum lord operation it was originally. Even if he arguably lost money in real terms he did have a plan.
With his term in office he had a lot of hangers on trying to push him one way or the other - the Bannon / Miller types wanting a full on right wing assault on decency and the Ivanka/Kushner types wanting to keep the policy middle ground and focus on the side graft. Add to the mix his fondness for 'owning the libs' and that is what you got. His political appointees where either horendously partisan and unqualified for office stooges willing to do what any bidder wanted or just empty posts unfilled. 4 years of sometimes outrageous alt right policy and periods of almost zero meaningful output other than twitter take downs.
PMIAC!!!Don't forget the "he's not really racist, he's just using it to get elected, and then he'll be moderate."
*cough* Piers Morgan *cough*
The 'Donald Trump on Social Media' Wikipedia page is one of the longest Wikipedia pages I've ever seen, so I'm going with bullsh*t."Oh this isn't social media. This is Trump media. It's not social media. It's really not it's not social media. I don't care about social media. I couldn't care less. Social media is Big Tech. Big Tech is on your side. I don't even know why you have a side, because you should want to have an accurate election. And you're a Republican."
Gibber. Trump doesn't care about social media, he said so, so it must be true, right?
