And whilst I get that, it's absolute nonsense to solely blame #45 and the GOP for the current conditions when the Dems servitude to big business first before its citizens has brought the us here.

When #45 offered a lie to change the system, he won the vote of the electoral college. Sanders policies offered a similar pathway for jobs, healthcare and wages as a Progressive, but the Dems rejected this in 2016.

Protests were always coming to the fore, whether it happened this year or later.
Why don't we go all the way back to when Dem's were slave owners, whilst completely missing the mark AGAIN?

The current situation is absolutely nothing to do with history, it's about removing the most dangerous man on the planet from office.

Now that Covid cases have been rising for two weeks, death rates just beginning to ramp up and some states are starting to lock down again, Trump’s gamble of encouraging the country to open up looks to be spectacularly failing, and this will become much more apparent over the next fortnight.

This could start to have a real impact on his core support because it’s now those people who will be dying in their thousands directly because of his idiotic policy of sticking his head in the sand and pretending that it’s going away.

No doubt there will still be idiots who will support him to the end even if Covid kills family members but I suspect it will make a significant number of people not vote for him.

I honestly now think he’s fucked, and will be even more unhinged between now and the election, with him making hugely dangerous decisions that could potentially impact everyone in the world. I’ll probably be accused of being hyperbolic but it really doesn’t look good.

In a normal sane world, this would all be true. Unfortunately ...

Who’d have thought it?

Also this would be interesting, in a dystopian horror movie sort of way:

Potentially dangerous times ahead. If it comes down to 1 or 2 GOP run states where voter suppression is rife this could get very very ugly. The postal ballots numbers will be very high given the pandemic.

We ain't seen nothing yet.

True but the Dems can counter this and use it against them. If there is a perception that the GOP will try to steal the election then that just hardens the resolve of the anti Trump voters. There will be massive media focus, there will be recounts and investigations. Bottom line I think Biden might go into this 10 points up and unlike last time the turnout will hold up and he will win despite these efforts.

Hurry up November, get this fat racist **** out and the world will seem a better place
His last throw of the dice will be an attempt to suspend or cancel the election, by September he won’t give a fuck about the rule of law in any shape , it’s going to be a violent period in the history of the US

Yeah he really is fucked that the election isn't until November. If it was sooner he could possibly have lied his way through the mishandling of the pandemic as he has been, but the next month or so is going to be absolutely brutal for the US and even his most ardent supporters will waiver. He's going to have to go full "blame China", but even that won't work on most people as everyone can see that ever other country not called Brazil has handled it better.

Yep. Even us.

With the way they are (I believe) deliberately screwing up the COVID-19 response, I genuinely think this is being discussed as a potential strategy. With Barr as head of the DoJ, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they will try and cook up some b*llshit legal argument as to why they would be allowed to do this. You can already see them laying the ground work with there attempts to discredit mail-in ballots.

The problem with this is that a presidency runs for a fixed term with fixed dates. The date for the election is also set in stone and is the responsibility of each state to do it. If an individual state fails to run an election and nominate its college delegates then Congress can step in to sort it out.

So he would have to interfere with the states individually to block them, he could do that with the Red states but not the Blue - they would resist. And the default scenarios are he is no longer president at the end of his term unless the collage system produces a winner and Congress (Dem controlled) gets to step in to the college system in the event the system fails.

If it wasn't stacked against him or if Reps controlled Congress then 100% he would be looking at it but as it is I don't see how it would work.

I’m not trying to avoid it, it’s just of no relevance to me. It’s like blaming Corbyn for Boris winning a landslide apart from the fact that the stories didn’t win the election whilst rigging the ballot, losing the popular vote and voter suppression.

Anyway, glad you want Biden to win. It makes me think that you’re not bat shit crazy.

LOL!!

Both of you arguing from a position of false equivalency!

Firstly, with the MSM playing the game of the Gov and deriding Corbyn, instead of being JOURNALISTS and offering equal platforms of criticism, we've arrived where we are for the UK.

How we got here always matters when we question the state of the country.

Secondly, pres #45 did not arrive in a vacuum.

How can anyone with a serious mind not think recent history has anything to do with the state of the US? Does no historical events create protests? Or demand for wage increases? Or better health care?

You're talking about the error of having this current president in office and wanting to remove him.

It has EVERYTHING to do with 'history' and the pathway that led to him being in office.

It seems like simple maths to me...
