Quite right. He's all in on fear motivating his base. That's it. Nothing else. That's all he has to offer.
These next five months (or more) are going to be harrowing.

The missus and I may need to undertake an emergency extraction to the family chalet*.

I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that American democracy is on the ballot this November. I expect to see blood in the streets either way (unfortunately) but if he's reelected he's going to be calling for more of these vigilantes to kill people who don't support him.

And as always when they do the spineless GOP will ignore his authoritarianism and continue to fleece American taxpayers.

Trump actually talking some sense for once, and in a pretty measured way.
  • Media complaining to him about paint rather than bullets, self-defense rather than murder - correct
  • Police should be taking care of the riots rather than citizens - correct
  • Bad police should be taken care of - correct
  • Police need more understanding - correct

If Biden wins and the Senate goes blue, I’d bet you will never see a faster move in history than the GOP pivot toward being deficit hawks again.

Not exactly what he told the police to do though

Clinton handed over a surplus to W then Obama reduced the deficit by 1/3 but somehow it's always the Democrats who allow out of control spending.

Well to be fair Bush got 9/11 and the tech bubble after he took office and then went out during the mortgage crisis which required a lot of capital to fix, and Trump got COVID (but to your point put in a huge tax cut as well). But the disingenuousness is certainly palpable with the GOP.
