That the Biden administration tried to beat inflation but failed. My simple question was ‘how did they do this, what actions did they try?’
But I did not make that claim. This is the point you are missing.
I remember a whole raft of actions to pick the economy off the floor post covid but I am at a loss to identify anti inflation tactics they used.
But to engage anyway, many would argue some of those actions were unnecessary and excessive. This, playing a role in the original spike in inflation. Talking about the American Rescue Plan you referenced below.
The stimulus cost about 3trillion dollars, hardly anti inflationary. In the event inflation came down: 1 By the fed keeping rates high. 2. The stimulus raised growth to the highest level in G7 which eventually will often bear down on inflation, but not always.
Noe in response to their actions that helped cause the spike, the Biden admin pudhed through an "inflation Reduction Act" that did nothing to reduce inflation. Instead, the act mostly increased taxes on businesses, mandates price controls on drugs, devoted $80 billion to hire new Internal Revenue Service agents, and earmarked $300 billion to advance climate related projects. None of this had anything to do with inflation. Just more spending .In other words, given the opportunity, Biden spent his political capital on pushing through climate change related agenda masquerading as an inflation reduction plan.
This on the heels of the American Rescue Plan that pumped 3 trillion dollars into the economy (an action even the Obama's economic advisors advised against) such excessive spending are almost always inflationary.
So why should anyone be surprised if citizens choose to try someone else? Which by the way, was my point - to bring it all back to the beginning :)
Sidenote:
in general, if there is a topic you wanna discuss, as it seems you were interested in discussing inflation and the Fed thes last couple of posts. .Just start the topic and ask "Dax what's your view?" I may or may not have something intelligent to say about it.
Anyway, you should have the last word.
