Donald Trump

Unless I see this elsewhere im gonna call fake on this. there's just something a bit uncanny valley about the footage.

That mixed with it being coherent for over 3 minutes.
I think you can hope that Jon Sopel (ex NY BBC correspondant iirc) hasn't just reposted an AI generated vid... but yes it is a bit hard to be believed, but hey that's the choice america... it was obvious in 2016 what Trump was (a compromised lying narcissistic fascistic dictator) and it's even more obvious now.

1. Because it's a cult.
2. Because cognitive dissonance is a thing.
3. Because humans can't admit they were wrong.
4. Because the alternative is supporting a Demmycrat and they're afraid of looking like "wimps" in front of their friends.
5. Because of "his economic policies".

“Truth and Reconciliation Commission”

Fucking hell.

Orwell absolutely nailed it, didn’t he?

This fucker wants to be hung from the nearest tree. He is the biggest danger to the west, far worse than Putin and the leaders of China and North Korea.

Not completely, no. He manifestly underestimated the force of human greed, and how that would shape the world - and (understandably) thought the power of surveillance would entirely rest with the State.

It plainly does not.

A fair point. I accept we are not living in the totalitarian dystopia of supernations (at least not yet).

He did however have a keen insight into the language of authoritarianism. You hear things like this and you wonder how somebody in Trump’s PR team didn’t think “Oh wait I’ve read 1984, we should probably call that something else.” It’s so on-the-nose.

But maybe it’s a kind of dog whistle. He’s telegraphing his intentions so clearly, nobody could say they didn’t see it coming.

I completely agree in terms of his linguistic and cultural impact. No other novel has had more such impact.

Other than The Bible…
