Fair enough. The way I've always thought about it is this.. to lean liberal, you have to be idealistic, to lean conservative, you have to be pragmatic.
Too much of either isn't good. Yet, both are necessary.
This is the type of nothing burger I'd expect to be written in crayon. Liberalism isn't a particularly idealistic worldview.
Neo liberalist economics is a more cynical and repugnant idealogy than traditional Conservative paternalist economics.
