Don't Bang the Drum.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, but no one would ever notice the drum was there!

Why take one then?

And if it's not hard to get songs going without some help, why are we struggling so much?

Many reasons, mainly people are spread out round the ground and not in one main area. No proper standing area maybe? Away games are easier to get songs going as eveyone is in the same end. It doesn't take a drum to get the songs going at away games either does it?[/quote]

We'll take one because it keeps the rhythm going and sustains the song so we sing it for longer than 10 seconds so others around the ground can join in.

...

Proper standing area? We stand as it is, that's no excuse. We tried giving the whole SS to City fans remember, it didn't work. Away games arn't the problem by the way.

Look, If people want to attempt to improve our home atmosphere then people should let them get on with it. We've got nothing to lose. People just need to give it a chance not be so set in their ways.

If people sing, you won't notice the drum, fact.

If that's the case, what's the need of the drum?

Because it will keep the rhythm going and sustain the songs longer than 10 seconds so others around the ground can actually join in before it ends. Getting other people involved rather than one little section.

The common negative comments that I am hearing from people are they think:

1) It's going to be a full musical band, like England's.

2) Just because the likes of Wigan and Blackburn can't create an atmosphere with a drum they immediately assume that we can't as well.

...

Firstly, I can't recall anyone on this forum ever proposing anything about a full musical band.

Secondly, the reason it doesn't work at Wigan or Blackburn is because they have mediocre attendances and appalling support. We get 47,000+ most weeks and can generate decent volume when people pull their fingers out. It would be ludicrous to compare us with them.

If people sing, you won't notice the drum, fact.

End of rant.
surely if a drum cant get a small croud goin then it deffinatly wont get a larger one goin

It get's them a small majority going at Blackburn and Wigan but their numbers are so low that the volume isn't enough. They don't have enough singers to pull it off.

I've not looked but I imagine there's posts on United forums laughing at all this drum nonsense. I know I would.

Re: She Bang's The Drum

I definitely want a drum going on, it is the only way to keep everybody in time and keep the rhythm of the songs going for sustained periods of time in my opinion.

Imagine Helen was alive now and told Bluemoon she was taking a bell to games. She'd be hounded off the forum and be put off the idea! I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
