Door locks

Any experts on fixing doors?

The key will go in and lock the door but will not go all the way round so the key will then not come out. So we have a locked door with the key in it.

It is a 5 lever mortise lock.

Trying to sort before calling a locksmith out.

Can you get the key out enabiling you to take the lock out?

I had the same problem twice in the past with that sort of lock. I'm sorry I can't really advise how I did it exactly (in other words what was causing it to get stuck), but I always solved it by taking it apart and the putting it back together again.

I have had one or two doorlocks and van ignition locks play up like this.
I give them a good squirt of WD 40 leave it a while and its worked on most of them.
Its worth a go mate.

It is a good tip worth £1,just taking the pressure off the weight of the door on the lock can free it.

I have no WD40 so going to buy some tomorrow and give it a go.

The locks work ok, the key just will not turn all the way around so i cannot get them out.
