Borussia Dortmund chief executive says his visit to Manchester City proved English game is losing its soul, Hans-Joachim Watzke has criticised the number of foreign owners in the Premier League ahead of the German champions' clash with Manchester City.

He said: "Germans want to have that sense of belonging. When you give [the supporters] the feeling that they are your customers, you have lost. In Germany, we want everybody to feel it is their club, and that is really important.

What a dick this guy really is, I think as fans we know that players, managers AND owners come and go, the only one true constant of a football club is US the fans, I really couldn't give a stuff who owns the club, because ultimately we own the club, without the fans there is no club. And before all the nay Sayers start crying about the price of a season/match tickets remember this....you don't have a god given right to go and watch manchester city, if you want to see world class players playing world class football you have to pay for it, there is no such thing as a free lunch!

To be fair TMQ, he and many other German CEO's foresaw a problem and came up with a solution.

You can't talk sense on here. The fact he's saying, quite reasonably, that the English fan accepts foreign ownership whereas the German fan culture tends to like the '50%+1' model and would probably resist foreign ownership is neither here nor there. You have to see it as an attack on us if you want any credibility on here.

The fact that, because they own their clubs fans take an active and assertive stand on issues that affect them like ticket prices and standing, while we mutter under our breaths about paying £50 for a ticket to Norwich but cough up anyway, is entirely irrelevant! The guy is clearly having a go at us.

If we had fan ownership here, we would never have seen us win the league so we have to take the rough with the smooth.

As did Hitler and the Third Reich.

Which they also tried to impose on the rest of the world.

The parallels are explicit.

Nazis.

They get cheap tickets by getting in early and putting their towels on the seats.
