Doves to record a version of 'Blue Moon' for City

They are running out to it tonight!
according to NME
Doves have beaten Oasis in the race to write a song for football club Manchester City. The band have recorded a version of club song 'Blue Moon' which is set to be played before tonight's (March 4) home match against Aston Villa.
Frontman Jimi Goodwin admitted they weren't as famous at City as the Gallaghers yet, though. ""I'll occasionally hear, 'All right, Jimi?", but it's not like Noel and Liam when they go to a game," he said (The Sun).

It was played before the kick off against Copenhagen as well.

Doves are class....got my tickets through the post this morning for their april manchester gig

The video (about a minute into it) for the new single 'Kingdom Of Rust' does indeed feature a City sticker in the car rear window.
And yes I do need to get out more!

Doves are a top band and big City fans. Apart from the version of 'Bluemoon', they recorded 'Live For City' and performed on the pitch at the end of the last game at Maine Road. I assume they still have season tickets in Colin Bell stand.
