Just had a quality day out walking around Dovestones and up the Indian's Head - a real test of fitness! Anyone else a fan? Really got a taste for hillwalking after today, any reasonably local good routes/suggestions to take?

Yeh, Dovestones is a rare treasure and I swear it was years before I could make out the shape of Indians Head from Geenfield, but now it is one of my favourite views

My brother in law's mum is well into her fell-walking/hiking, and took me a few times about 8/9 years back.
Went up Kinder Plateau, had an excellent time, and want to try that area you just mentioned. Unfortunately, shes gotten older now and only does gentle walks with some other older women. Being 21 and mixing in mainly Uni and football circles, I don't personally know anybody else who has an interest in this massively under-rated hobby. I'd love to get back into it again, and appreciate it more, as back then I was just a chubby 12 year old who cared only for Haribo and the PS2.

I'll be honest op, not much bores me more than walking for fun.

You wanna see me in town, i am like a focussed beam of energy seamlessly and smoothly moving through the crowds.
To the point i sometimes get pulled up by mr copper thinking i just robbed something due to my speed walking.

Moral of the story, it is a method of physical conveyance to me nothing more

That's the boozer that used to be round the back of Hartshead Pike.
Took my first wife in there and she literally couldn't believe the place, sat in some blokes living room, while he got your drinks.
Don't know how old he was,but he introduced his youngest son to us and he looked about sixty.

I am quite disgusted that you have started a thread boasting about a racist attack. I hope the mods take serious action.

I once tripped up and did a somersault over a rock whilst running down it playing manhunt, I carried on running screaming f'kinell did you see that, once in a lifetime experience :D Its also good for mushrooms up there.

Not there any more, it's now a house.

Walking the whole way round Ladybower beats Dovestone, the only thing is though you end up walking down the verge on the Snakepass on the way back-makes Dovestone seem very small when youve done that one.
