Been using the missus's 60 plate clio as no DPF fitted but has anyone struggling with the dreaded DPF light with no way to drive far enough to regen?

Pain in the butt and normally caused by stop start motoring. Had a VW Passat taxi at the 90k up and the dreaded light came on. Had the filter chopped out and remapped yet 6 months later it ground to a halt. Cost me a bag of sand to replace the brain and so never again. I now have a Peugeot 3008 at 70k up and once a week blast it up the M66. The VW would run when the light came on but only in limp mode. Not fit for purpose and dreadfully disappointed. Regenerate my arse : /

Mine is a Vauxhall and have deliberately not run it as not going over 2 miles on any trip which gives you a double whammy that the regen doesn't complete and it dumps xs deisal into the engine oil hoping to retire next year if that happens I'm back to petrol

The only reason I got the 3008 is because the daughters dealership was offering her way below value as a part ex. They should make this know at point of sale to any consumer operating under a start stop environment.

What causes the excess diesel to be dropped into the oil?

I honestly thought the thread title was in written in German.

All you have to do is get the exhaust hot enough for a period. Just hold it at between 3 and 4,000rpm for about 30 mins and it should be enough to clear it and get rid of the light.

Yes. Absolute pain on the arse of a thing. Had a diesel Renault Megane a few years ago ans I will never have another diesel again because of it. Way to regen it is to put it in second and third on a dual carriageway and screw the fuck out of it pushing 60mph if possible until the light goes out. Doesnt sound good for the car at all but is the only way to burn out all the particles it collects

Sorry my poor description I have not moved the car to avoid the light as I have no way to thrash it up the M6 to burn off should it light.

What's wrong with putting it in neutral and not moving and just thrashing the tits off it? Why do you need the ground to move under the wheels? ;)

I've got a clapped out 07 Scenic - its a series of electrical faults travelling together in close formation but its a petrol - last diesel I had was a company sourced C-Max on a 12 plate - documented on here - it was a fucking dog of a car. Before and since I have gone petrol. The Scenic is good - every so often some warning message comes up but it goes out after a few days and nothing bad seems to happen.

Vork sprunk dirk technique indeed and for that very reason I'm out: (Progress through technology my arse!)

In these straightened times and those to come buying a VAG diesel is a good investment - get yourself involved on one of those class actions over them fiddling the emissions and you can expect a windfall in due course....£££££'s
